Ha ha this annoys the hell out of me too! I smoke, but i dont have kids. Now my friend has seven kids (three small ones still at home, under 10) and she is always asking to lend money or saying she cant take the kids out because she is broke, but her and her partner spend about a tenner a day on cigs.....so frustrating and I always feel so sorry for the kids, they miss out on so much.

I personally think roll ups taste better than normal "fags" not so chemically, but i don't smoke anymore. OH smokes though and he used to smoke cigarettes and it was costing a small fortune which we couldn't afford, so he went over to tobacco and he actually prefers it to his old brand of smokes, and it is A LOT cheaper too, which is a relief. I personally would prefer it if he gave up completely but smoking is his only vice so i wont begrudge him that.

My mum always smoked packet cigs, her partner was an alcoholic so they always.had cigarettes and drink and we had second hand clothes and on a couple of occasions had him 'borrow' birthday money given to us by family never to be seen again. Despite all this, my mum still drinks and texts me late at night to tell us (OH and I) how awful we are, just in case we should ever forget.

Strangely I don't smoke, OH quit years ago, the children have nice clothes that fit them (clothes that fitted were a novelty when I was growing up) they don't have to go to school smelling like ashtrays, they are well fed and we are currently doing up the older 3 girls room...

But it would appear that we are awful awful people.

I eventually gave up all together thanks to ,modern quitting aids.
Couldn't afford ready made cigs so went to rollings to save cash, then found/worked out that I could save even more by going onto niquit minis.
From there I waited for the 'right day' (yes, they do exist, we all know when it's a good/bad day to quit) and swopped niquits for polos.
But back on topic, I couldn't have faced my family going without over my habit. Alcohol and cigs are always the first to get cut when things are tight.

There is nothing worse than a child going to school reeking of stale smoke. I have a friend who is ocd when it comes to cleaning and dirt and likes things to be clean and tidy, yet she smokes in the house and you can smell it on her kids clothes, ironic really isn't it!

Thanks for all your responses, what really got me annoyed was when I thought one of her little ones had done a no 2 ( smelt bad ) so I offered to change nappy, didnt check as it really did smell !

Turned out it was just bad wind and there was only a small stain in nappy.

I then got moaned at that I had wasted a nappy ! And did I know how much nappies cost for 2 little ones per week.

Well me being me I hardly ever paid full price for nappies I always went for the best deal, so I did a quick search on Hotukdeals and found all kinds of deals where nappies on ( if bought on deal ) worked out no more on average than 10p each.

I think this is what wound me up more than anything I got moaned at for helping out by changing nappie and told off because of how much they cost by the same person who is always saying how she never has any money for the kids and yet refuses to smoke roll ups to cut her costs.

    I was flabbergasted !

Well I am assuming she gets CB and CTC so surely she should be using that money for nappies and things.
