TalkTalk - new selling tactic????

Options
A salesman came to the door offering free broadband in my area.

He went into his patter and told me the faster speeds, unlimited blah, blah when he eventually mentioned Talktalk I told him I'd left talktalk a year ago due to their appalling customer service and other problems and hell would freeze before I went back.

He then told me that Talktalk had been taken over by Sainbury's and everything was being restructured now and much improved.

I refused to listen to any more - but all I can find on the internet is that someone who used to head Sainsbury's is now in charge at Talktalk - not that they've been taken over.

I'm not interested in signing with them - but just wondered if there is any truth in it or is it another lie?

Its another Porkie  and not a very good one at that.

Talk Talk are very much a company in their own right and nowt to do with a well known Supermarket chain.

    http://www.talktalkgroup.com/

Its about time the unsolicited doorstep selling of phone lines and broadband is stopped, just like they have done with Gas/Electric.

Its the silly season -lots of people on the jobs market after graduation,A Levels etc so the agencies employ them on sales commission basis - therefore they go round door to door, desperate to sell something and just make it up as they go along!! Had this twice last Summer - opening line is always "do you want free broadband and /or calls?"

Dido Harding, the CEO of TalkTalk, was briefly on the board of Sainsbury's.
There is no commercial link between the two companies whatsoever.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

I doubt that they do make it up as they go along. There is evidence on this site they are trained to say these sort of things .

Total porkie...the door to door sales work for companies like Skye Marketing, over here in NI,& they are all self employed & are paid on a 100% commision based salary,so it's in their interest to get you to sign.
I had them come round my door a few months ago as well, when BT were installing the Infinity infrastructure, telling me "We've been upgrading your exchange" another porkie there...

I love the way you have no interest in taking the details and getting such statements being made by representatives if your company nipped in the bud.

A very worrying approach for a communications company in my opinion...

    Thanks for the replies.

Of course you can only let them know on their forum if they've not cut off your broadband for no reason like they did with me last year. :p

    Hi visidigi,

The purpose of the earlier post is so we can take details of the issue and investigate further. We cannot do this via MSE due to the conditions all Company Reps are subject to when posting on MSE Forums.

We can however take the necessary details via our Forum or Via Twitter as referenced earlier, allowing us to investigate into the issue.
