That is a ridiculous strawman (or two) that you are putting forward. You seem to think that anyone should wait up to 2 weeks for money that is owed to them, its not a problem.
Would you accept your employer saying that they cannot pay you for 2 weeks?
Would you go in to Tescos, pay for you food and be told that they will send it to you in 2 weeks?
Lets hope you do not buy anything from me,but i would love to buy something from you.;)
1. The OP says the item cost "few pounds", so it's not the end of the world.
2. Somebody not paying immediately for a item that cost a "few pounds" on ebay bears no relation to an employee being paid their salary.
3. In your Tesco's one you seem to have flipped to the other side, where the goods are paid for but the seller delays despatching them, and evidently the food would go off whereas there is no such thing implied in this case.
Whether you & me ever engage in any transactions on ebay is who knows?0 -
As i have said,i do not think anybody would mind a delayed payment if it were agreed in advance. In this case it was not and find it an absolute cheek! That is a ridiculous strawman (or two) that you are putting forward.

No,it is the principle. If the buyer asked before bidding then,no problem. It is a right cheek to purchase goods and expect to pay in 2 weeks.
2. Somebody not paying immediately for a item that cost a "few pounds" on ebay bears no relation to an employee being paid their salary.
The value is not relevant, its the principle again. You would not like your employer to delay paying what is rightfully earned.
3. In your Tesco's one you seem to have flipped to the other side, where the goods are paid for but the seller delays despatching them, and evidently the food would go off whereas there is no such thing implied in this case.
It might be the reverse scenario but again, the principle is the same.
Whether you & me ever engage in any transactions on ebay is who knows?
The value/cost/money involved is insignificant.Lose is to not win......Loose is not tight......get it right!0 -
Your strawmans are silly; the things you put forward are quite different to the actual subject of this thread. (And the principle of receiving rotten food a few weeks late from a self-service supermarket after you've paid for it is nonsensical.)As i have said,i do not think anybody would mind a delayed payment if it were agreed in advance. In this case it was not and find it an absolute cheek!

FYI I have been self-employed and had to wait months to be paid.
If you get this het up about somebody else not being paid immediately for an item that cost a few pounds, how would you react about somethign serious.0 -
Businesses routinely have the concept of thirty days credit as well (depending on reasonable track records) and anyone who pays by credit card is promising to pay in a few months' time.
The buyer paid three days before she said she was going to, which is still two days away.
At the moment, buyers are few and far between for a number of us. In this situation I would want the sale more than to have to pay to relist, or wait until the next FLW.
If you have loads and loads of buyers right now, then great, block away, but a lot of us don't; don't knock us for being flexible with the ones we do have."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

I am not "getting het up" over somebody not getting paid.I am getting het up that you think the position the OP found themselves in is acceptable!Your strawmans are silly; the things you put forward are quite different to the actual subject of this thread. (And the principle of receiving rotten food a few weeks late from a self-service supermarket after you've paid for it is nonsensical.)
ERR,where did i mention rotten food?
FYI I have been self-employed and had to wait months to be paid.
That is not an answer to the statement of being paid by your employer as an employee.Your statement is part and parcel of being self employed.

FYI, I've just sold a computer on ebay.
The auction ended on the 6th; the buyer paid me yesterday (19th), and I sent it today (20th).
Almost the same timescales as the OP.0 -
