What I would suggest is that you folks should all get used to the fact that the day a factory worker can afford to buy a 4 bed house on his wage is now gone (how ridiculous is such a situation anyway?). In my opinion those that did not do well in school and who have not become a successful entreprenaur should not even hope to be able to buy any house whatever the size.

First... it's entrepreneur... the entreprenaur was from the Jurassic period. Not sure how well you did in school.

Second... no one assumes a factory worker should be able to buy a 4 BR home. But how about an architect, with 8 years experience and a master's degree. (This person is my husband.) Should he be able to buy a 2 bedroom terrace? He did so well in school!

I will assume you are just winding people up because your comments are ridiculous.
  • Surfcat,
The MPCs remit is to target CPI which does not include house prices. Their only real interest in house prices is in terms of contagion, e.g. people may consume more if they feel wealthy because of house price rises, ability to borrow against the property etc, which may in turn push up CPI. So a house price crash could also lower inflation too much (the target is 1% either side, too high or too low). Their recent publications has suggested that the link between house prices and consumption is not as strong as previously.

Personally I dont think its unreasonable to expect the inflation rate to slow in the medium term, given previous commodities price rises, especially oil which have increased the rate in recent history but have calmed lately.

As an aside, in relation to another post, its not the bank of england who decided what is put into the inflation indices, AFAIK it is the ONS - its certainly them who collate the data.

Finally, bondraider, isnt it spelt entrepreneur?!! Maybe you need to go back to school rather than criticising others?!!
  • Degree education means !!!!!! unless its from Oxford, Cambridge, LSE, Imperial, Bath, Bristol, UCL etc i.e the top 10. Just because someone went to Greenwich Uni or Portsmouth Uni doesnt mean they are educated. If fact I would consider them unintelligent for wasting their time at such establishments.

Those kids who went out playing after school instead of making sacrifices and learning dont deserve fcukall when they grow up. Of course there will be unfair exceptions but in general those who have worked hard will deserve something in their future.

As for Nurses being educated, alot of our nurses simply pursued some courses later on in their life all of which are not on par with that undergone by pharmacists or doctors. True education means doing well and working hard from the start not later in life when you realise you are at a dead end because by then it is too late. As someone who completed Medical Training I know what sacrifices mean and what education means (yes I am a doctor but a doctor who left the medical profession because I couldnt stand the !!!!!! the profession was getting from common people i.e the general public. In fact the general public in my view should be treating doctors like gods simply due to the !!!!!! they have to go through to get where they are).

This country has it too easy for the average folk.

Qualifications are not the be all and end all ukbondraider. In fact I should go on to say that most entrepreneurs are people that did not do so well at school and did not make sacrifices in early life.

Not all nurses are qualified as a result of career change. Many choose to study straight after school. In fact, while 'doctors' such as you sit winging about how little 'respect' they get from the public and b*tching because they are not put on their little pedastal, nurses are actually tending the patients and while they may not have been able to afford to study at the 'best' of uni's, they are more in tune with what is going on with the patient than the doctors tending them. It is the nurses who are first to pick up a problem and then get hold of the doctor on the golf course or in some little seminar having his ego preened.

I am not suprised you are no longer a doctor, it must have been a rude wake-up to find that your degree did not entitle you to the status of 'king' and that you were actually expected to work and earn your respect like all the 'common' folk. You must have choked on saying your oath!

Dont you get it. All doctors would have already earned this respect from their previous hard work and achievements up to the completion of their degree.

The problem is that those who live in this country and have not done anything to contribute to society are the ones who think they deserve respect.

How many unemployed people in the UK think they are above cleaning toilets despite having no skills or qualifications. I would hazard a guess and say 100%.

Like I said the average and less than average folk have it too easy.

Indeed. For example, people who think they're owed massive amounts of money each year tax-free simply by sitting in a house... they contribute nothing, but then boast about how rich they are and how dare the proles who do the real work that keeps the country going believe that _they_ should have a right to actually buy a decent house to live in.

There's a reason why emigration is running at record levels, dude. Have fun here when all that's left in Britain are old farts and chavs because all the 'average people' have moved to a country that values them more than property speculators.

Aaahhh....No, not all doctors get respect. You are dreaming. The little snot nosed interns are quickly put in their places by nurses who have been in their vocation for many years - until the 'doctor's' 'experience' is actual physical experience and not what they have learnt from their text book!!

Anyway, I am referring to your post of the 'In my opinion those that did not do well in school '... e.g Train drivers on £30K, nurses on £25K.'. Considering that these nurses, besides learning all the technical involved in their chosen fields, eg, paediactrics, midwifery, neurology etc, they did indeed and do still do 'gutter' work such as wiping the patient's butt, and do not consider themselves above doing such, it is their field they have chosen. I think they do more than their share of contribution to society and more than pay back their cost of education in the little they receive as salary.

You, my friend, owe many people an apology for your misplaced arrogant attitude.

My OH has been in the army for 30 years and earns alot less than you , doesn't complain and has spent at least 4 years of our 8 years married away on tour. The HM forces work very hard and have got where they are by sheer bloody hard work and having a degree doesn't make you anything special, or make you better at make vital decisions in a war zone for example(in fact I'm afraid to say some junior officers e.g degree educated are bloody useless!!). It really gripes me , people like you who have this god complex and think they are better than anyone else, no wonder there is so much disparity in society. I think you should be very careful what you say about nurses etc cause one day you might need looking after and will you be so selfrighteous then?????

If you are no longer a Dr what are you doing now then? are u working? seem to be on this forum alot!!!
I like to take one day at a time....but quite often several days attack me at once...
