If anyone is thinking I'm the type of person that no one would want to do a job for, I've never had an instance where someone who's done work for me before has not wanted to come back again.

I have used a joiner quite a few times, just for little jobs. A few months ago we ended up locked in the house when a lock broke. This was on a Sunday afternoon. I phoned him but it went to answer phone (landline) so I left a message. He phoned me back at 8pm that night and said he had been out and only just got back. I had managed to sort it out by then but I know he would have come out if I needed him to.

It comes down to human nature so again yes it will happen that over inflated quotes are given.

By which I mean that person Mr or Mrs X is just as likely to be a bad trader as a bad customer, dependant on which he is, it's in his nature.
So yes bad traders and bad customers.;)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

I used to get messed around a lot by one particular customer. You'd just be finished and ready to go when they'd say they'd like the job doing again, but not quite how they'd originally agreed as they'd changed their mind. I'd always quoted on the high side to cover myself, but even though they paid twice I felt like they didn't really appreciate the skills that went into my work. In the end I had to be blunt and say I didn't want to work for them again. They pointed out I'd always been paid, to which my response was I could have had two satisfied customers in the time I spent working for them. It isn't just about the money, part of being self-employed is the mutual respect between the customer and tradesman.

Instincts are powerful things, ignore them at your peril.
