Barclaycard aren't at fault you are

Do explain how the OP is at fault in this.

They had a standing order set up. It seems not to have gone through, which may be down to the bank problems at RBS/Natwest. Hardly their fault.

My mistake, it was a direct debit that was set up. Barclaycard say it was cancelled online. Strange as it was not by me. Will need to investigate this further.

As for those with the 'you paid late, it was recorded late' attitude; yes, I appreciate that and had it been my error then no problem. As it has been missed through no fault of my own and marked as 'in arrears' !!?? by Barclaycard for ONE day late then I think I am with well within my rights to dispute this.

I just think for July its been recorded to quickly my equifax credit report is always a month behind.

Are you sure the DD was not cancelled earlier and the missed payment was not actually for the month before?

It worth guerying it though as an error may have made on behalf of the bank.

The payment never received the account in time. It is her responsibility to make sure payment is made to the creditor. Its not the creditors problem if she set the standing order too late/Bankers had a fault/The dog stole the debit card used for payment.

Was it? You've been talking about a standing order for the whole thread.

It is your fault. Its upto you to make sure the payment is made/received ontime.

I am finding your thread hard to believe now. As it was a standing order and now its a direct debit.

It's hard to believe because I originally said standing order, checked my account and realised it was a direct debit? Why is that so hard to believe?

Every month up until June is marked as green and July is marked yellow 'in arrears'. July payment isn't due until around 21st of this month.

A standing order is VERY different to a direct debit.

You have NO recourse against Barclaycard at all. it is your responsibility to make sure your account is paid ontime.

So I used the wrong terminology, big deal.

For those who are genuine and can actually help me, I have spoken to Barclaycard on the phone.

Statement was issued on 18th May, for payment due 21st June. Text received by me on 23rd June and payment made over the phone. 2 days late, I thought it had only been one.

Barclaycard have told me that they applied for the Direct Debit from the RBS on the 18th June which was knocked back. Therefore, making it the RBS' 'fault'. (as there is plenty money in the account to cover the DD)

I shall call the RBS and see what they make of it.

Incidentally, the Direct Debit is listed as 'reinstated' on my RBS list of payments?

Thank you to those who have helped so far.

This is very good news for you.

The timings indicate that it was caused by the RBS computer failure. Complain to RBS.

However, only Barclaycard can remove the late payment flag at the Credit Reference Agencies. So you will need to ask RBS for a letter confirming that it was their error that caused the DD to fail, and then use that letter to ask Barclaycard to amend your record at the three Credit Reference Agencies.

It would be worthwhile getting your Experian, Equifax and Callcredit reports in a month or two to make sure that Barclaycard have updated them all correctly.

I don't think Barclaycard will, Nor do they have any obligation too.

All the major banks and building societies agreed to support those customers who have been affected by the RBS/Natwest computer failure.

Remember that it is not hieveryone's fault that this happened.
