Payment 1 day late recorded on Equifax?

Hi,

Jst after a quick bit of advice.

I have a Barclaycard which I pay a standing order amount to monthly I.e more than the minimum.

I recently got a text to say my payment was late and could I call them. This was news to me as like I said I have a standing order.

Anyway, I called them and paid over the phone. The payment had only been due the day before. Re-set up standing order and thought nothing more of it.

I've just had a notification of a new alert on Equifax, you guessed it, late payment recorded by Barclaycard.

Do I have any recourse on this? I have a feeling my standing order was cancelled because of the recent banking troubles with RBS although this hasn't been confirmed.

Thanks

Stacey

If its the banks fault yes
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

I'd say its worth calling Natwest/RBS and telling them whats happened, and ask them to get in contact with Barclaycard to ask them to remove the late payment marker.

    Its worth a shot.

Although I haven't confirmed this with RBS, is there any recourse with Barclaycard at all?

I thought a late payment marker was only applied over 30 days? The status actually says 'in arrears' on Equifax! I am livid! I've been workin hard to get my score up after moving house etc.

Think its very quick for equifax to update information from something that happend only 2 weeks ago or less.

You should contact barclaycard and ask them from when it relates to.

If it was due to the RBS banking error then the bank can issue you a letter to pass onto barclaycard.

    Thanks.

I know that it relates to this as it is the only time I've ever had a bother with them. Plus, it states 'July' on the report.

I am SO cross with them for this. Is there no regulations about how many days late before it is reported? I'm sure I remember reading somewhere it is between 15-30 days or is it up to the individual companies?

    Thanks

Well, in theory one day late is late, so depending on how arsey the company wants to be, they could mark it late after one day. Thats a bit unusual though.

If I were you I'd get a letter from Natwest that you can pass on to Barclaycard

This is easy to find out - what date of this month is your standing order set for? And what was the payment due date on your most recent Barclaycard statement? Compare the two dates.

It's a dangerous business paying your credit card by standing order, as whilst the standing order date is fixed each month, the credit card payment date will vary. I suspect that this is what happened here - the credit card payment date fell after the standing order date.

You can get around this by setting up a direct debit with Barclaycard. You can ask them to set it up for a fixed payment each month.

Regarding the late payment marker, it is correct (you missed the payment), and so there is nothing you can do to change this. Many banks will choose not to report payments that are just slightly late, but that's their own choice.

You paid late. They recorded it as late. Barclaycard aren't at fault you are

    The late marker is accurate.

You can do a notice of correction to equifax about your late payment charge

What's to correct? If the payment was late then the marker is correct.
