As for me if I was invited to a wedding on the 12th I probably wouldn't go as I would much prefer to be at one of the 12th demonstrations and there are many like me.
Can I ask why? Surely if it is a good friend who has had the courtesy to invite you to their wedding (hopefully a one of) you would be willing to forego the parades for one year (they will always be there the following year). I am not looking an argument but I would consider my friends wedding to be much more important? Good friends are sometimes hard to come by.

    OP

To be fair to you at least you have taken the time to consider the date and the impact it may have on some of your guests.

As for me if I was invited to a wedding on the 12th I probably wouldn't go as I would much prefer to be at one of the 12th demonstrations and there are many like me. However if you are prepared to have some of your Protestants friends not show up then the 12th should be an ok date for you.

I was all shocked when I read this, and like Ivan and Dave I was wondering why, but now I'm wondering if this is sarcastic? Surely no one would rather go to a parade than a friends wedding?:rotfl: Having said that, I suppose this works both ways in that if I were getting married I wouldn't want to invite someone who thought so little of me that they would prefer to be at a parade than helping me celebrate, so no offence should be caused or taken, one way or the other!

Thats actually one of the thinhs that attracted us to the 12th. Those who didn't really want to go would ne on Holidays/Celebrating the 12th so there would be no real point in them attending anyway :D

Hmmmmm what to do now, Church booked, Reception booked? is that my involvement in the planning done ? :D

They should really have "How to have a wedding guide for dummies"

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh your involvement is not over by a long way, you'll be dragged to flower shops, cake shops, Suits (the missus-to-be will have to be there in case you chose the wrong style or colour) What type of Invites will you have??????????????????????????????????????????? What about the guests, are they staying at the venue or near by, will we advise them on local Hotels or B&B's, will we see if we can get a good deal from a local hotel if there's not enough rooms at the venue or will we let the guest fend for themselves (They're all big Boys & Girls!!) Oh, the rings, have you got them sorted???? Oh the Brides flowers, you know you can have them freeze dried & Framed, thought of that, would be a great supprise for her, Honeymoon.... Thats the grooms job to organise that.....

ah ha ha ha ha ha ha your work is never done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You lost control and involvement at the end of the sentence 'Will you ....' (or possibly 'your f****g what?' depending on how the proposal went). Your next involvement will be standing at the altar with the realisation that you have just been sentenced to life :D

All sounds familiar :j we are getting married in corick house on 16th of august next year. I am also in the education system, and will need only a few days off at the beginning of term to get in a great honeymoon. Live in Armagh so not too far away.
Pleased to see that you are travelling down from belfast, as this means that corick house must be pretty good to other people too. I fell in love with the place as soon as i had seen it ( had actually sent off for the brochure before he had proposed! didn't tell him that though!)
If your other half to be finds any good places around corick house for cakes, flowers etc, can you let me know, thanks and good luck with all the plans.

ooo The week before us then! Be sure not to trash the place lol :)

We attended a friends wedding there so thats how we come to heard of it, it was for sure the best wedding I've been to but thats only 3. I like the privacy of the venue and the attenion of detail put in by the staff. If my friends wedding is a good reflection then you have nothing to worry about.

I've not yet looked into that other stuff but i'll be sure to let you know if we get any good contact and please do the same.

O and for the record, it was the first statement not the 2nd thanfully Ivan ;)

We thought the same. We were looking at a couple of other places, but seemed to be cramming as many weddings into the place at once, love the privacy and outdoor area at corick.
Have got to put down a deposit soon to secure all the rooms for that night, and might end up looking into any nearby hotels to house other people. or we might put on a coach to get back to keady.
Will let you know if i find any bargains/ moneysaving tips along the way

Well actually for me it is!! I cant walk down the street on these days cos the town is full of drunken louts making !!!!!! of themselves. Everything is closed except pubs and these are filled with the above mentioned louts. This is not fun for me.

I find that very very hard to believe.
