Kitchen units end piece

  • wheres the kitchen from? I think they look better finishing flush with the doors but some companies panels are not wide enough. Ikea for example
  • also sometimes if the doors have bevelled or curved edges the panels can look better going upto the curve or bevel and not to the front of the door
  • Thank you all for taking time to reply.

The kitchen is made to measure. Everything was ordered and built to size.
The guy is an independent local company.

The end panels seem to have been cut to make them shy of the doors, but proud of the carcass ( in the middle of the door edge) And no, the doors are not decorative, just shaker style.

The other thing I noticed is, the panel that goes across the window between the units either sides is shy even more then end panels!

I will try to take picture tomorrow.

    Many thanks

Whichever way it is it should be the same everywhere either flush with the carcass or the door unless you need to fit it to some room feature. For instance in our kitchen the end of the run of wall units finishes 20cm shy of a window however the window isn't as deep as the carcass + door so there is a filler in line with the carcass. Everywhere else it is designed so that the panels are flush with the doors.

Looking at the two types of units we have, B&Q in our utility room and Benchmarx in the kitchen the B&Q ones are flush with the carcass and the Benchmarx ones with the door.

Now you are wrong. They certainly do not all do this. Howdens finish flush with the door.

And whether they look fine or not is a matter of opinion.

No, not all of them they do both styles and if not all then most companies do this, the cheaper end of the range being door onto end panel so to speak, check Howdens website ;)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

All of our base panels are 595mm deep, even in the cheap ranges.

But all the others aren't that's the point, both arrangements are possible. Name the name of "your" base panels for the benefit of those looking, pm, me if you don't want to be accused of advertising, can only help.

If the manufacturer is also the installer then I guess they are correct in that is how they intended them (I guess its one of those things you should have specified but wouldn't of thought of in advance). They don't look like they are all sticking out by the same amount though which is a fitting problem.
