The photo of the front of the house looks terrible so having it painted today, I feel guilty for wasting money on having someone do it when I could have done it myself :(

Don't feel guilty - see it as an investment instead.

Kerb appeal is priceless when you are trying to sell a house.

Just remember to get your estate agent to change the photo on rightmove when you've had the work done!

    Good luck :D
Mortgage at highest (April 2008): ~£195,000

I think it will be money well spent on the decorator. Maybe it is just my decorating skills, but when we have a proper man do it it looks SO much better.

As Kirstie and Phil would say kerb appeal is everything. Maybe you need to get onto their programme and haggle you a great deal for a new place!

Well I’ve been posting on here exactly one year – I can’t believe it, where has it gone?

So how have I got on? The headline is - in total I’m £12k better off than I was a year ago, when I look at all assets and debts. If I hadn’t have had to buy a car, it would have been a rosier picture, but I had no choice, also if the stock market hadn't dipped I'd be doing better but ho hum!

I’ve paid 10k off the mortgage, paying £30 a month less in interest, regularly being in the red is (hopefully) a thing of the past. My regular payment has dropped below £1k a month which is massive for me and I’ve been steadily increasing my SO OP off the mortgage and will pay £275 this month.

Looking forwards, everything is up in the air as we could be moving and getting an even bigger mortgage, but one thing’s for sure MFW has become a big part of my life. Whatever my mortgage is if I can get between around £12k off it in the next 12 months that would be good!

    Here's my sig for posterity!!

That's great progress you have made in one year QBW . It sounds like the next 12 months will be on the same track.

Not sure where to start, so firstly thanks to those who have thanked my recent posts and those who have commented. Thanks to Shala Moo for reading my whole diary - hope it wasn't too dull.

So racked by guilt I spent Sunday painting the gates, which helped me to regain some feeling of manliness. I ran out of paint though so need to finish that and regain some more of my masculinity, I did also realise the painter did the front of the house a lot quicker than I would have.

Then early hours of Monday morning was very sick, Mrs QBW felt ill too, my boy was sick the night before, so bit of a bug going round. Worked from home yesterday and back in the office today - not tip top but the nausea has worn off now.

House will be on the web tomorrow with the new improved photo!!

I've also seen a house that I like, but Mrs QBW needs convincing, we'll have some discussions tonight, and probably decide that she's right. The house is cheaper than ours, with smaller rooms, but with potential to extend, with parking, a nice garden, in a nice street and would mean moving from town life to village life. My thinking is we could do it up live there for a few years, hammer the mortgage down (my favourite bit), sell it make a profit and then afford a bigger house!! It'll be fun going through it all tonight.

16 days until payday and I've failed miserably to keep my current account above £1k so it'll be just the standard OP this month, with a must try harder for August.
