Random question - when you freeze bananas do you just pop them in the freezer in their skins or remove from skins? Then can you just defrost and use as normal? I seem to have over-bought.

Skin them and pop them whole in a bag. I've just done this on DD's advice. She says they are brown and squishy when they come out, but she just mashes them for cakes. I've been eating cake made with mashed bananas that she's frozen and I never knew!!!

  • Morning all, another day at the coalface eh? FUDDLE - You are one strong and buoyant woman, you have taken this situation and already gripped it by the throat, you are a cracker. All the information and advice from the lovely people here is very sensible and sound, don't think about this Christmas, focus on next year when you will be in a much warmer, dry and sound new home. Do everything and anything that you have to for sorting this out and make the LL actually do what he is by law required to do. It may not help you but it will make you feel oh so much better. More strength to your arm little one!!!!!

PAH - I'm so glad you are liking your new home arrangements, you sound much more settled and positive. Your subconscious is however in the wrong, you do not MOAN. So if you've got enough energy give it a good sorting out and then put it in a jar at the back of a cupboard and ignore it!!!

ANTY MONNAGRAN - Yewse a gud lurcha riter , yew spews reely gud!! Mumi sez maby eye shud fink uv ritin er 'DOCKTIONARY' an ven evrywun kud no wot ize meenin' Iza gud eyedear yis? Ver dukkies onna beech sez qak,qak qonk!!!

I'll be missing in action for the next week as I'm off to pet sit for DD1 who has taken a school trip abroad for some real hands on history and politics, will check in if I can but in the meantime take good care of yourselves and make Fuddle giggle at least once a day for me please!!!

Cheers and love to all, Lyn xxx.

Morning toughies. Hope all are well this fine Sunday morning.

I'm sitting here with my second cup of tea, and am due at work in an hour. I had a dreadful night's sleep thanks to OH's constant getting up for a wee, and then Roxie got me up at 6.30 to be let out into the garden, then again at 7.30. I was totally awake by then so I just got up. I seriously do not think I can stand OH in the same room any more. He got up four times last night, he crashes and flails about, has to switch the bathroom light on (that makes a massive big click anyway) and the walls here are paper thin. He switches the light on before he shuts any of the doors, so if the banging hasn't woken me up, the light does :mad::mad: I'm going to HAVE to have a word, and it will probably end in a row... :(

I really hope it will actually be worth me being at work today, the last few Sundays have been so quiet, I seriously don't think they should be opening, they are NOT covering the wages, let alone the running costs. I have pointed all this out...but along with all the other money saving advice I keep offering, it's not being taken on board  Oh well.

Oh Kidcat, you know where I am if you want a shoulder to cry on or someone to yell at universe through, am quite happy to be both or either.

Sorry not sent my love to all others who need it but its there for you all.

I had a dream the other day that I received a pm on here from someone, honestly it was a dream no-one sent me this pm, and it said I was depressing the group so would I please butt out if I could only moan on here so I can see my sub-concious is pointing out to me I am just being a moaner so staying quiet until back to normal, not that I ever am that :)

    Hugs and love to allxxxxx
:A You are not a moaner, PAH, you are a tower of strength, wisdom and kindness to us and don't you dare let the dark side of your consciousness tell you otherwise.

Greyqueen, with winter coming on I am worried you may start missing your pet slugs when they hibernate. Would you like me to knit you a slug to keep you company on those dark winter evenings?
:D I thank you deeply for the offer but I have a lovely furry blanket for those dark winter evenings. :D

I have a large chard plant harvested yesterday, root and all, in a bucket of water on the kitchen floor and I frisked its leaves carefully for slugs (none) and snails (3, evicted) before bringing it home. The parentals found one on their sitting-room floor beside the airbrick, they think it must have crawled in from the front garden. Ick.

Fuddle, I'm so sorry to hear that you had a panic attack, although it's not to be wondered at, given the horrible threat of losing your home. But I'm pleased to see that you've rallied and found your fighting spirit. Stick like a limpet until you have somewhere better to go to and always follow Shelter's advice. Definately bring up your health issues as they are relevent. Your family is vulnerable because of the limitations the bankruptcy imposes on you and this gives you fewer options than others might have. It sickens me that there are a minority of LLs who seem to think that keeping their rental home dry is too onerous a proposition.

My council has officers whose duty is to enforce standards on the private-rented sector and failure to co-operate with them will see the relevent LL in court and often facing swingeing fines (think thousands, often tens of thousands). Their job is critical bacause bad housing esp re breaching fire regs, can cost tenants their lives.

We'll be rooting for you, as always, hun.

Well, didn't surface from my pit until 9.30 which is unheard-of, thanks to the actions of a luvverly neighbour waking us all up in the wee smalls. Selfish people in blocks of flats are a pest. Although I have lived in terraces where the walls are so thin you can hear the lightswitches go on and even a belch through the walls.

Sooo, not the allotment until this afternoon, will spend the morning chilling out and then go up later. I'm only well enough to do very small amounts of physical labour at a time (1-2 hours tops) so wouldn't have been up there all day anyway.

Have a good day, people, even if the sun hasn't managed to come out here yet and it's a bit driech.

    Morning all!
Welcome back "not jumping to conclusions" fuddle! So pleased you and DH have a plan to help you cope. You will come through this with positives. So eBay time it is. I would heartily recommend you look for a dehumidifier for that room / house / life in general esp if you are going to store anything in it even until you move. Try free cycle, car boots and do on for a cheap one

Re gardening, I'd be tempted to do pots to begin with then av a plan to graduate to clearing the lawn and using the front garden, easier than lawn cutting and it's not like you sit on it, unless children play on it which could be more important as a safe space.

I am going to brave MrT later for some supplies. How ever today is dedicated "clean up and put life in order for working week" day. As it piddled it down here last night lawn is once again far too wet to cut so that job has been delayed.
