Did you make that up? That's fab! :rotfl:
Nicked this from Possession but thought it was canny for here
I must do
I hope you're all proud of yourselves with this cosy winter gear talk. I'm getting out of my sick bed to sew on 3 buttons that fell of my winter coat (nearly ankle length GQ) :mad:0 -

Ne're cast a clout 'til May is out. is the old adage.
Big discussions at work, the heating has been removed from my room & people are complaining that they are cold in there, can't have a radiator as there is no pipework, can't have a freestanding heater as it could be a fire hazard, can't have a wall mounted one as I have the wrong walls, oh well, I'll just freeze shall I?

If it falls below 13degrees (I think) you can mosey on home Hester. They'll put a rad in for you then won't they!
Does it mean May the Month or when the May trees blossom. I never did learn the meaning0 -

Does it mean May the Month or when the May trees blossom. I never did learn the meaningIt's the trees in blossom; May (hawthorn) flowers mid-late May the month in the UK.
HH the wrong kind of walls my arris! Talk about disrespect for their staff. Mind you, I know someone who worked for the Revenue and they got aircon in their offices. Not for the benefit of the long-suffering staff but because the computers were overheating..............!
Is it possible that photocopies and printers can get too cold to function....? Not suggesting vandalism, of course, but I do like to think outside the box.;)Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

You shouldn't be charged, but if you want to be safe in future you could cancel your direct debit and set up a bill payment. I used to pay mine via bill payment and although I paid it the day they would have taken the direct debit out, I never received any demands etc.
The best cough medicine as far as I'm concerned is the one that contains the stuff they used to give babies for croup before other medicine could be bought/afforded. Ipecac something or other. The pound shop sell a cough medicine that has it in. I'd also stick with hot drinks as it's the steam that helps make breathing easier. I'm not sure where the doctor got the cold water thing from either. Mine has never said that to me.
That's why swimming is good exercise for asthmatics. All the water vapour in an indoor pool helps you breathe better while exercising.
Kidcat If you live near PAH, you're probably not a million miles from me either.
Please don't buy Ipecac for coughs. To be honest I don't even know if you can get it over the counter..Ipecac is used to make people vomit especially in A+E for over doses.

PAH:- Am sending healing thoughts for both your Daughter and you.:grouphug:Give us the strength to encounter that which is to come, that we may be brave in peril, constant in tribulation, temparate in wrath, and in all changes of fortune, and down to the gates of death, loyal and loving to one another.”0 -
Coo you lot can't half natter! Every time I thought I'd got to the last page another page appeared!
PAH I hope your daughter is going to be OK. And who knows, you and OH might get on better and reach a peaceable working arrangement now. I hope so.
Fuddle I hope Alfie is OK. When Tessy was a pup I once had to stay up all night syringing a glucose/salt solution into her every half-an-hour or so. It was touch and go whether she would make it through the night but she pulled through. It is horrible to see dogs so poorly as they can't talk and tell you what the matter is. But if Alfie is hovering around the oven then he must be on the mend. I will pm you a website about vaccinations because dogs don't have to have them every single year but it is a contentious issue. (Oh yes, and I hope you and the dd are feeling better too, of course!)
What a lurgy-ridden bunch you all are. Sending good vibes for quick healing for you all.
And now .... drum roll please ..... I have posted all my overseas Christmas presents ta daaaaa! All four of them went today, surface mail, and it has saved me almost a tenner on postage than if they'd been sent airmail. Of course, I have to wait and see if they reach their destination, but it will be one less thing to do just before Christmas. Just as long as you don't all go getting the idea that I'm always this organised .... Hey, you don't get much more OS than sending your mail overseas on a ship (admittedly they won't be sailing ships but it's more OS than using a plane ....).
Am doing an experiment tonight. An hour and a half with the gas fire on low and the same with the central heating on, to see which is most cost-effective. Having the fire on low is not really warm enough but it's ok as long as I get up and move around every now and again. The central heating will go on to help warm the bathroom for a shower before bed as I am a big fat wuss when it comes to showering in a cold bathroom! If the gas fire is more cost effective I'll use this system when I'm in the house on my own without Lodger Boy (it would be a bit unfair to make him sit in his cold bedroom ....). The gas fire has used 0.2 units so I'll have to do the calculation to see how much that costs.
Right, off to make a couple of birthday cardsI love making cards. And now that the CH is on, I can snuggle up next to the radiator at the same time ....
Sweet dreams everyone xxx.Aspire not to have more but to be more.

I've got 4 packs of those cake mixes, the BBd is long gone but hope to at least make one this year!
As for not wearing much when it's cold, being a child of the mini skirt, so everything was mini, even a winter coat when I was late teens, would be called a jacket now! :rotfl:Not sure how I never got ill.0 -
Thank you smiley.
That's a fair saving to be had just for getting sorted early. Enjoy your experiment
 Ipecac and morphine was the medicine of choice when I was growing up. Didn't matter what was wrong internally Ipecac and morphone, externally zinc and castor oil.
I tell a lie. We had Indian Brandee in the house. It was my treatment for panicking and getting too upset, stomach etc.0 -

It's not syrup of ipecac. It's a cough medicine containing something like 0.1% ipecacuanha tincture. It's never made me sick I promise you. I'm asthmatic and prone to bronchitis and tracheaitis.0
