  • Thanks again KITTIE - will dry them again tomorrow on 145 deg until they are crisp and white. Will check out your bookseller and not amazon, you are very good and patient thank you very much, Cheers Lyn xxx.
  • emalou88 - you will NOT necessarily be sanctioned for JSA purposes for leaving a job. They will ask for your reasons; so you are honest and give all details re safety, harassment, lack of action by line manager etc etc.

I left a job after 4 days earlier this year... boss was shouting and bawling in front of entire office if one person did the slightest thing wrong... i was put in totally different dept to my skills then criticised for not doing well... so many other things... i filled in 3 pages extra job centre asked for. My JSA claim was ok'd immediately. Dont put up with any crap in workplace and be confident xx

Have just read through all the posts since Friday. I'm tackling the Encyclopaedia Britanica tomorrow.

Re: Nativity plays. I did it simply with my younger children and always introduced it thus.

"The girl in the white nightdress with a blue cloak is Mary. The girls in white nightdresses and tinsel halos are angels. The boy in a dressing gown and teatowel headress is Joseph. The boy in a dressing gown and tea towel and apron is the innkeeper. The boys in dressing gowns, teatowels and carrying canes with twirly bits on the top are shepherds- and watch out for those canes, they're lethal. The boys with dressing gowns, crowns and fake gold, frankincense and myrrh are wise men. The boy in a dressing gown, crown and frown is Horrid Herod. Children scrabbling about on the floor wearing ears, tails and furry bits are various sorts of rare breed animals. ENJOY.

The Royal Shakespeare Company it was not. Comedy Playhouse maybe.......
I well remember the year that Joseph was played by the 5 year old son of the manager of the local hostelry. His dressing gown was was made out of beer towelling mats. Joseph was actually advertising Bulmers, Stella, Heinekin (?) et al.

I also remember when my own son was just getting into the car to go to school when he said, "Oh, by the way, I have to have a donkey costume today." It's a miracle that he has survived to 43.

That's enough of my boring reminiscing. I only do it when I haven't anything useful to say - which is more often that I would like.

Keep going peeps, I am in awe of your industry and stamina.

    Sleep well.

Have just made granola as I am fed up with the price of cereal in the shops. Got the idea from the co-*ps free mag and basically chucked in everything I could find, nuts dried (hm of course) fruits, raisins, seeds and then mixed it with honey and vegetable oil. No way was I using olive oil. then baked it in the oven -filled in a gap nicely. Am now cooking some chocolate buns using an AP packet mix up. Added a bit of fresh baking powder to see if I could lighten them up a bit, so cross your fingers.

All this is , I think, a reaction to the news tonight that there will be more cuts in store, have decided I will survive and save as much real cash as I can. So when this batch is cooked everything will be switched off that i can and out will come the wooly socks and I will knit myself a life :rotfl:

If you have the pattern could you PM me, I could really do with a new one as the one I have is a bit old and battered. I was hoping to do one in bright purple.

Got the radio on and listening to an American version of The News Quiz you know how they say we follow the US...I heard a comedian suggest that out there they expect you to work until you are 70...It's already been moved to 67 here so I wonder how long it will be before we adopt this?

The funny thing is I love food and am not a bad cook...and I have plenty of items to make quite a variety of dishes. Cannot get anything else in the freezer but I have tidied it up and everything is in order.

Going to reorganise my food store in the dining room and the cupboards/pantry in the kitchen. It's something to do...

When I next see my consultant at the hospital(November 8th)I think that is the same day that Aldi's open on my town.

Maybe you could seek out some recipes in the library or on the web and have a bash at creating something different for yourself. Would be interested to hear of anything new, appetising and most of all cheap!

Hope your hospital appointment goes OK, I hate anything to do with hospitals but sometimes it's gotta be done.

BB with my recipe books, the downloaded free kindle books to me PC and all the websites in my favourites it would be easier to tell you what I cannot cook:pand most dishes are cheap and not difficult to prepare...

Thank you for the good wishes regarding the hospital appointment, amazingly I have been having checkups there with the same consultant for 15 years...where does the time go? I thought that when I looked at my blog(I have been writing that for 6 years)

Unfortunately one of my medical problems will require an op when I decide to have it done unless it decides for me...that I am not looking forward to...but I should do it sooner rather than later whilst I am supposedly still young.

Yes Aldi's will probably be where I will do most of my shopping from now on...;)

Not connected to anything but I found this site for converting just about anything and it might be useful to many on here...

I have just used a piece of software on the internet to tell me how long I have been alive and how long it is to my next birthday...

I thought it was wrong and said that's a stupid piece of software but then I did my own arithmetic using my fingers and the internet programme seems to be correct and I am...a year younger than I thought I was. So now I wonder if I have always had myself older than I really was. I have tried to work it out this way and that and still come up with the same answer.
