Can somebody kindly gimme the recipe for flapjacks with porridge and sultanas and syrup? TY
Been trying to cut out sugar but if I don't get something sweet I'm gonny kill somebody
I use this one:

but I'm afraid all the recipes I've used have sugar in too. If you want sultanas in just add some to the recipe.0 -

xxx.
turn it up to 145, they take 8 hours at that temperature and will feel like crisps when ready. I dry all onions at 145( and rotate your trays)
A book I very highly recommend
http://www.ukjuicers.com/preserve-it-naturally-by-excalibur
it is twice the price in amazon and I can`t find it anywhere else. I would snap one up tbh. It`s worth every penny. I use it as my out and out guide and then put everything on post it notes inside the front0 -
Thank you so much KITTIE - Onions took 7 hours and are now leathery and cooling down overnight so I can package them tomorrow, am I right in assuming they'll store OK in a sterilized completely dry lidded jar? Have rotated the trays 3 times during drying and moved them ,top to bottom, middle to top and bottom to middle 3 times as well. I'll investigate the book on Amazon tomorrow as we are off to a quiz later on today, you're a real help and I don't feel quite as much in the dark knowing I've got someone to ask, appreciate it, thank you, Cheers Lyn xxx.0

They don`t sound dry enough, mine go crispy but remain white. I only cool for 10 minutes and pack straight away in unsterilised lock n lock boxes. Any airtight container will do and don`t sterilise.Old coffee jars, anything. I leave the filled container out on the kitchen table overnight and check for moisture but everything has always been good. Then I label and store in the dark
The length of time also depends on humidity. Don`t bother with amazon, it is very much dearer there0 -
Thanks for the replies
I work at a dispensing opticians so no chance of doing any work at home.
He knows about the safety issues and about the incident and does nothing about it.
He won't bring the hours inline with everyone else, I've tried that one.
His answer to not feeling safe is keeping the door locked when it's dark but if someone wants to come in and order or collect their glasses then open it for them. Errr so what's the point of locking it then?
The problem with this house issue is it's my DH friend who's already paid off the mortgage on it and was renting it really cheap. Then because he's friends with my DH he's knocked more off it (he has loads of houses) so it's a deal we won't get again if we don't take this opportunity we wouldn't be able to really to afford to rent again as this is seriously cheap.
We are moving because we'd like to start a family and get a dog both eventually and our flats too small to do either.
OK
Can you get alternative work, just anything near where you need to move? That way if you end up with no work at some point at least you can say it was a temporary post and get contribution based JSA for 6 months rather than nothing. if you just leave the job you will be sanctioned and it could be for the whole 6 months. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
MrsL I'd recommend the largest pineapple you can find as once you've tasted it you'll have none left to store :rotfl:

Hi everyone,
Haven't posted for ages but I've been dipping in and out to read when I can.
So, still tough and more cuts to come - I'm so grateful for all the good advice here.
Heard last month my employers will not be employing any staff next year, (small cafe business) so I've been looking for work - hopefully have found another job, I have a month's trial at another cafe, probably very slightly less money and more transport costs, but at 53 i'm just glad to have found something so quickly. I'm counting my blessings reading other stories on here, daughter has gone off to Uni and seems settled, OH's business has been poor this year, but it's what we expected.
We have a decent apple crop ready now, so frozen apple puree, crumbles, apple cake on the go.
Very aware now of the need to stay fit for work - exercise and good diet, early nights - wouldn't have given this a thought in my 20s and 30s!0 -
Emalou I would be wary too of leaving one job before you have found another in this climate, especially since as pointed out it would make you ineligible for JSA. But I do understand the awful stress. It's hard to know what to suggest, will have a think.0
