Gorgeous sunny day here, think that's 4 in a row we've had. Pure white frost in the mornings but warm sun when it gets going. I'm rooting in this recliner knitting like a tornado for xmas. Plotting ways to cut down on elect when prices rise because there's no way I'm giving the greedy sods any more money .
Kittie I got some really lovely old rose pink cobweb and am doing a lacey scarf with it. Plus purple eyelash dorm boots, plus a charcoal mohair sleeveless waistcoat for me. I might be stuck in a chair knackered but I'm not lazy :)

    Thanks for the replies :)

I work at a dispensing opticians so no chance of doing any work at home.
He knows about the safety issues and about the incident and does nothing about it.
He won't bring the hours inline with everyone else, I've tried that one.
His answer to not feeling safe is keeping the door locked when it's dark but if someone wants to come in and order or collect their glasses then open it for them. Errr so what's the point of locking it then?

The problem with this house issue is it's my DH friend who's already paid off the mortgage on it and was renting it really cheap. Then because he's friends with my DH he's knocked more off it (he has loads of houses) so it's a deal we won't get again if we don't take this opportunity we wouldn't be able to really to afford to rent again as this is seriously cheap.
We are moving because we'd like to start a family and get a dog both eventually and our flats too small to do either.

    Emalou -

Acas are great for employment advice. If basic health and safety policies aren't been adhered too, you may be within your rights to refuse to work. Give them a ring and see what they say, you don't have to tell them your name if you don't want to.

Also, these people might help on the law aspect too

    Hi emalou

Haven't time to post properly as need to pop out in a sec before school run but didn't want to read and run. Your work situation is dreadful and I can understand your housing dilema. Will try and post again properly this eve but just wanted to say "chin up love" and I am thinking of you.

right off to buy a bolt for our living room door to keep houdini cats in there at night so they don't wake up my littlies too early.

For slow cooker chicken do I need to add water to the pot?

I never have and there is so much fluid/liquid that usually comes out of the chicken but others may have ideas on this...

    Maybe this will help?

If you don't want to have to clean out the slow cooker you can do what I do buy a roasting bag, they are usually large enough and I put the chicken in one of them.

    Emmalou,
I do feel for you. There's me, I hate to say feeling sorry for myself because I see so many others struggling(in work/out of work/looking after someone/trying to hang onto a job/survive on low wages/hang onto a house whether buying or renting/worried about whether benefits will be removed, suspended/worrying about paying bills not luxuries but whether they can afford to stay warm or eat/trying to sort out housing problems often with a private landlord/run a car or use public transport and that may be repairs or cost of fares)Have I missed anyone? I'm sure that I have.

Life is difficult for so many. The OS area of the MSE board proves this. We are all struggling and I hate to judge who is having a worst time over someone else.

No wonder we need to help, share, support each other. No wonder so many of us are stressed and if we are a snapshot of what is going on what about all those we don't know of. None of us know what is going on behind the closed doors of our neighbours. A lot of assumptions are made anecdotally.

How many just get on with it and don't trouble others. For ages I used to see someone in the local SM(here's an asumption I made)I thought she was a pensioner and she looked as though she was only able to afford low priced items and did not have much money.

Somehow we got talking...it turns out she younger than me(so not a pensioner)and in a situation a bit like I was(until I lost Mum)she is a carer for her Mum, she is not married.

I can quite understand how everything has built up and why you feel as you do.

I don't believe I am depressed and need AD's yet but if I feel that I do I will seek out help...but most days are similar and most things cost money to do, around here there isn't much that is free, not many clubs to join, it costs to travel everywhere and you get tired of walking the same few streets and seeing the same shops. The future is uncertain.

If you come home you can only do the same things that anyone does. Basically sleep, watch tv, listen to a radio, read a book and eat. It's what we all do? But much as I like my own company, like you, I can go for days without talking to anyone. I guess your contact is just the customers that come into the shop. In my case my only chat is with the checkout staff in the local SM.

I really hope things continue to improve for you and your future plans too, sometimes we cannot see the light at the end of the tunnel but we have to believe that there is something worthwhile to aim for...
