Bonnie, thank you for the link to the dog-shaming site - I think Byatt has posted it before but it never does any harm to go and have another look. I've spent the last forty minutes giggling at the photos. I'm not letting my two have a look or they'll be getting ideas. (Tessy woke me this morning by puking at the side of my bed .... she doesn't need any more ideas!)

We won £10 on the lottery :)

Basic meal of sausages gravy and chips.

I've lost my enthusiasm and drive at the moment. Looking forward to just chilling with candles on later with hot chocolate. Feel a bit down, need to perk up.

I wish I could :p I sometimes think I should not be doing it and in the future I probably could not afford to or just do it occasionally but like many you hope that you might just be lucky. I would love it if I could win £10 regularly an use that by ploughing back into buying another ticket. It costs more but I prefer the Euromillions...

I go through phases like this I am sure that many do, I like my little part of the world as you do Fuddle, I wish I had family but everyone of us have problems(financially, looking after a loved one, the loss of a loved one, looking for work, illness)

Many reasons(some I have missed)but I don't really like what I see going on and I'm not sure I like my country, the way politics are etc...the people who seem the most disadvantaged seemed to be getting a kicking.

Thank heavens we are all here for each other offering support, help and advice but often we cannot actually make things better and how sad that so many of us are struggling...

I hope we don't go down the same route as Greece and the scenario as told by 2Tonsils but Ireland is going through difficult times and things are looking bad in Spain, Italy and Portugal but I do fear that it will get worse in the UK.

Your loss of "Get Up And Go" Fuddle may be more on a personal level but all the above ties into why many are feeling down.

I should have had a meal but just had a basic salad sandwich.

Most of the time I do Bonnie and you are right...in one way I am tempted to spend, spend, spend but knowing how difficult it will become it is tempting to try and save(and have a safety net)but in the next breath you are not allowed to save that much otherwise you'll be penalised.

I think I will be able to do less when next year comes around. And my treats(like many)are gained through really cutting back on what may be seen as essentials...but we all need something to lift our spirits...

    Thanks Bonnie...

 I am not pleased with DH so have slunk off to bed with the lappy and not said goodnight. All over blooming condensation/mould (I empathise fuddle and bonnie).

Our house is a condensation nightmare - wish we had known before we bought it. The dehumidifier we purchased last year helps lots, I hang washing outside as much as I can, keep lids on saucepans and am obsessive about letting lots of fresh air in for hours (even though DH moans sometimes.) Even put the heating on low for a while today - not for the heat (though it was glorious :D) but because of the condensation. I wipe down windows all the time, its a big chore in the colder months for me.

Bathroom is the worse as we have no window (just an old skylight that doesn't open) and no outside wall for an extractor fan. We could have a vent or fan in the skylight but can't afford it as saving really hard for other more essential house repairs. I have to wipe down the skylight in the morning, eve, after baths etc. DH rarely does. Honestly I feel like a "maid of all work" - got that from the servants programme thats on the Beeb every week. I don't want the kids to have the cold wet drops of water falling on them whilst they are in the bathroom or them or any of us for that matter to suffer the ill effects of damp/mould any more than we need to (it worries me but DH thinks I being dramatic) so I do everything I can to control the situation.

We have black mould on PVC windows, a wooden strip at bottom of french doors, some spots on bathroom ceiling and the silicone strip around bath and in unheated downstairs loo. I do treat it with antimould spray, repaint ceiling, replace silicon etc - though its all overdue and needs doing as soon as I can. These jobs are on my priority list of to dos.

Anyway to cut a looong ramble/rant short - DH had a 1.5 hour bath (as blooming usual) which sends the condensation into overdrive. After finally getting to relax on sofa watching Downton, I go up (without saying a word as usual) to mop up condensation from HIS bath and find the bath mat soaking wet (from him getting out of bath). Went down in the middle of Match of the Blooming Day and said in a friendly way, it would help if you swopped wet mat for a dry mat (we have several) and he snaps at me he couldn't find any (they are in the iaring cupboard) and turns the TV sound up while I am wiping the living room windows yet again. No big deal for either of us but after him being thoughtful rest of weekend (which I appreciate and told him so) I feel like we are back to blooming square one. I feel like a blooming unpaid servant at times.

goodness me, didn't realise the time, better get some beauty sleep. sorry for rant - the condensation really gets me down some days. I worry how we will sell the house if we ever get the chance to move - condensation in winter, noisey neighbours in summer!

promise to be cheerier tomorrow folks!

sq:) (just about managing the :) I can tell you :rotfl:)

    savingqueen,
I live in a big old single walled victorian house with massive high ceilings and pure walls of windows. I feel your pain, trust me I am an expert on blasted condensation.
I found the only thing that worked was to keep the place heated at a 18c temperature most of the time, keep the moisture down and the ventilation up.

I expected huge gas bills but oddly it didn't seem to be excessive if I kept it on low almost all day rather than just heating it in bursts.

It may be worth your taking a meter reading and trying the low heat option for a week and see if it fits your budget and improves the situation.
