Just wanted to say Fuddle I have bought a LOT of fresh chicken from Aldi and never had a problem - you might just have been very unlucky, or there could have been a glitch in the supply chain. I would def tell them about it - if others have had the same problem they will refund :)

You're all going to think I'm such a spineless bint. LL came, saw the damp and said it's always been like that, which is different to blaming me for it I suppose. He's not going to do anything about it because he lived with it when he lived here. He is going to get my toilet fixed though. I'm fed up with it. Same plan, live here until something else comes along.

There is a big difference between what someone puts up with in their own home as opposed to what you can charge rent for. Please get in touch with your environmental health officers about this. (I know you are worried about needing a reference, but you are entitled to a decent standard of housing)
  • Oh yes NUATHA and they'll be humming the theme tune from Mission Impossible as well as they sneak up the drive wearing black balaclavas with holes in the top for their antlers - I just wish I couldn't see it happening in my mind but I can!!!!!! Hope your OH is getting on well and you are coping with everything as well, Keep smiling, Cheers Lyn x. P.S can I redirect the deer to you. They really like roses, they ate all my neighbours buds last night too!!!!!

    Hello everyone :)

Well said nuatha I completely agree. He might have lived with it fuddle, but you shouldn't have to. Think of your DDs health and get Enviromental Health involved if he refuses to do anything about the mould after you have written him a formal letter. Send it from a Post Office and get proof of postage. Keep a copy and then you have backup if he tries to blame you and keep your deposit to fix it.

Coffee and walnut cake and oaty mincemeat slice have been baked and I'll make the meatzza for dinner in a bit. I'm not sure what to serve with it though. I might put it in some part bake ciabatta as subs as DS1 doesn't like pasta. This is the recipe if anyone has any better ideas. http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/meatzza_60080.pdf
DH is still at work. He turned up to fix one fault and had to log another and wait for a new part. He called earlier to say that the part was due at 4pm and that he was going to find somewhere to buy lunch while waiting. The overtime is very welcome, but he was out for 6 hours yesterday and about 9 hours so far today. Thank goodness he is only on call one week in four.
I'd better get the laundry in and put it on the airer overnight. I thought I'd get my jumpers washed while the sun was shining.

    Take care everyone xxxx

Redirect away, I'm rather fond of spit roast venison,(the influence of too many Robin Hood films as a child) and have an empty freezer.
Off to see OH shortly, will pass on all the good wishes, thank you.

Fuddle - re chicken, if you call Ald! and tell them about it and that you wont be able to get to store for a few days they will tell you to bin it and log the call for you. The last thing they want is you walking in with week old rancid chicken in front of customers!! Then when you do go in they will either refund or replace - I have done this several times with all different stores - in fact one store I took the chicken back to and the staff begged me never to bother again just to call and bin it. :)

As for the LL I would write a letter (it needs to be written anyway) and send it saying thank you for visiting, I appreciate that when you lived here there was a history of severe damp and that you made a choice tpo live with it. However as a tenant I am entitled to have it repaired and not to live with it. End it with I look forward to a prompt reply. If he doesnt repair or make arrangements to have it looked at/repaired within a week I would contact your council. You can explain that you called him, he visited and that he refused to fix, you then wrote as is required and he has ignored you. Then leave it to them to deal with.

If he calls after the council contact him you could always deny reporting him, you could say that it was a visitor or a doctor after a bout of ill health, he wont be told who actually complained, if you are worried that he will be mean to you.

Shegar - repackaging food is a definite no no, and all food dates are very highly monitored (my OH works in food industry) if you know of a store that repackages please report them as they are breaking so many laws they would be instantly closed down.
  • NUATHA - If I catch the little wotnames they're going in my freezer, and when cooked the dish will be tastefully decorated with pansies!!!!! Cheers Lyn x.

MrsLW - I would love the deers to come visiting my garden, would even be willing to sacrifice my flowers. OH would go nutso though. :)

Had mad afternoon cleaning up and generally getting ready for DD birthday tomorrow, kids uniforms all done and ready and bags packed too. Still have the presents to wrap and banners etc to put up but cant do any of that until DD goes to bed which will make it a very long night.

Am considering that OH and I will go for a breakfast meal tomorrow to celebrate the fact that we have successfully managed to get one through to adulthood :)

I think you should definitely celebrate kidcat. I am a proud mom at the moment as DS2 and I were watching The Hairy Bikers Mississippi Adventure and Dave said he had a pet frog as a child as they were poor. DS2's response......." A pet frog...LUXURY!!!!!" :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    I am so proud :D
