2tonsils what a beautiful image.

We have woken up to thick fog, DS8 appears to have forgotten fog so is very unsure of it, he keeps wiping the window and is getting quite disgruntled. Can see it being a long day if it doesnt shift soon. :)

AM about to tackle the ironing volcano so may be gone several hours:D have thrown a coq au vin in the SC for later so am expecting some nice smells to permeate and keep me going.

Have instructed OH to pick all the toms from the mini greenhouse today, its getting very cold now and they will not ripen in the cold, will bring them in and pop them into a dark place with a banana as this worked last year.

Am suffering a bit from CBA today, comprised of tiredness and disappointment that a social get-together with pals tonight is canx due to ill-health........not mine, for once.

Bah! need to get my aspidistra in gear. I suspect getting washed and dressed would be a good move, it's so hard to feel decisive in one's jammies, doesn't one find?:p

Morning all

Sunday is going well so far, I have just had crumpets for breakfast with my very own home-made jelly on them. It is a bit runny but it tastes amazing! I am sat here feeling very pleased with myself.

I have 4 nativity costumes to make this afternoon, mum and I are helping my sister, she and 7 other mums from her school are making 122 costumes for the year one Nativity play, I have made 2 angels and 3 Josephs so far, 4 more Josephs to go (There are 13 in the play, it is all about a mix up...)

Rightio, my sewing machine awaits me.....
I promise that I will do my best.....

13 Josephs?! The mind boggles .... :D

Have been MIA for a few days because being back at work has tired me out. I'm hoping this week will be less tiring as I will have adapted slightly.

Have been struggling to keep up with the thread but the two things I remember are both animal related. Docky's photo (you gorgeous boy, you!) and Monnagran's mix-up between a gerbil and a flu jab :rotfl:. If only gerbils could ward off the flu - everyone would have one!
Oh and jem's eyes - stand your corner and get an appointment xx.

Life is tough at the moment for some of my friends. One of them is facing losing her home because she just can't find any work at all (small rural town). Another is a teacher whose class of kids only got D's and below at GCSE so she is facing competency measures. Half the class had statements and they all had behavioural problems, some couldn't even speak English to start with! They were the bottom of the bottom as she works in an LA area with a grammar school system, and she is in one of the 'sink schools' so if a kid is in the bottom set at a sink school they really are low achievers. The fact that she's had half-decent results in previous years with kids who can sit still for more than a minute doesn't seem to count. The management at her school is awful and my friend is so distressed at the moment and there is nothing I can do to help except be a shoulder to cry on. I really wish I could win the lottery and pay off my friends' mortgages for them so their homes would be secure and they could look for better work.

Sorry to have a moan on such a beautiful, sunny Sunday morning.

On a brighter note ... I'm off into town now to pick up my new glasses. They're purple :T, my favourite colour, and they only cost £37 so I'm happy with that. Might have to die all my clothes purple to match and change my user name from smileyt to purplet :rotfl:!

Morning all :)

*giggles@the thought of 13 Josephs* That image has made me happy so thank you Tawny75

GQ I very often suffer from that malady. I find that it's the getting started that's the worse bit, but once I'm on the go it gets easier.

fuddle I hope you have stiffened your spine and tell the landlord that the damp is not your fault, that you aren't going to live with it and that it needs sorting asap. I know you want a good reference, but it is his responsibility and your family shouldn't have to live with it. Good luck xxx

kidcat Good luck with the "i" word and I hope the photos turn up xxx Also thanks for the tip about the tomatoes. I got 4 tins and 4 of chickpeas, all Dotty the Trolley and I could manage.

Well I have made it to Mr T's and back as DH got called out this morning and it looks like it is going to be a while before he is home. Steak mince is half price at £4 per kg on the butcher's counter. I got a kilo and will be making Nigella's meatzza with half and cottage pie with the other half. I think I'm going to do some baking as well. I feel the need for coffee walnut cake and maybe some kind of sticky pudding to go with custard, that or some cinnamon sticky buns. Tesco had some new apple crumble shortbread that I fancy having a go at making. There was no way I was going to pay their price for something I could make at home that would taste much better and cost half the amount.

Time to get the washing machine on and to see what DS1 wants for lunch as he doesn't eat fish pie.

Take care xxxx

I made 24 angel costumes in a week one year, the nursery store roof had leaked and the costumes had gone mouldy. Only discovered ten days before the production! At least I could production roll 24 angels, the mums that were making the shepherds had to make them all individually. The angels weren''t half bad either though I did take them all back after Christmas to finish the hems properly, I'd just stuck everything I could up with Wundaweb for speed. But it was amazingly stressful, we (the sewing team) were all phoning each other up at midnight to see if the others had more white thread or gold braid or spare fabric or ProPlus, lol.

Going to make myself a note for the wall, 'When DGS starts school and I take him I will not mention that I can sew' All those Josephs ? Hope Mary picks the nicest one :D

been up most of night with DGs as he has a nasty cold but at least his Mummy and daddy got to go to a friends wedding and relax for a while. OH and I are totally frazzled but happy. DGS went into the greenhouse and got a new pack of (ys) plantpots in a tray and spent ages opening them then stacking them until he eventually decided sleep was a good invention. Going for a snooze then get my A** in gear, thank goodness for cooking in advance - 3 roast dinners all ready to assemble :j

The panto lot in our village have tried to inveigle me into costume making but I have pleaded time pressure and wiggled out of it - if the kids decide at some point that they want to 'do' the panto I fear it will be unavoidable!

Monnagran - loved the gerbil thing, I'm always mishearing things with bizarre effects.

Fuddle: I've had two lots of chicken from Aldi that's been off recently, if you can then take it back for a refund. Both packs of chicken were stored in the fridge as normal and were rank 5 days before use by date, yuck! It messed my meal plan right up.
