Excuse the moan in advance - DD has gone to a Brownie sleepover - her first ever - and the house is very quiet without her. I am watching back to back Dr Who episodes with DS at his request. I think he secretly misses her too. Definite relapse on the bug front when I had felt a bit better the last couple of days. It's a yukky one that's for sure, there just seems no stopping it. Avoid it if you can.0

Evening all
Just a quick check in as I have a vile headache and am trying to cook dinner. When I told DS2 I would make him fish pie for dinner I didn't want to throw up at the smell of the fish
Possession I'm sorry that you are still feeling ill. I hope you are 100% again very soon. Enjoy the Dr Who marathon and just focus on the fact that your DD is having fun.
savingqueen The freebie shop sounds wonderful. I know the shop I volunteer in can't sell lots of stuff due to Health and Safety regs and having somewhere like that to send the stuff to would be a great idea.
jem132 Just want to send you my best wishes and good luck getting an appointment ((((((((((hugs))))))))) Hope it is nothing to worry about xxx
Time to put the extractor fan on full, hope it doesn't make the headache worse and get on with it. DH won't be home until 8pm and he can't cook anyway. Thank goodness for Mr T's 20p packet sauces. That saves me having to make parsley sauce from scratch. I must remember to pick up some more tomorrow if they are still reduced.
Take care everyone xxx0 -

D & DD, I found a 1.2 litre stainless steel double wall flask in T K M*X for about £7.99. I've had it for about 6 months now. It keeps hot overnight. It comes with a double screw in seal (i small one in the centre of a larger one that turns it into a food flask, it has a plastic bowl inside and a big soup cup on the top. It also has a fold down handle and a carry strap. The make is OUDON and It's a useful thing. I cook cereal in it by pouring on boiling water and leaving it overnight, there are also soup and stew recipes available for this type of cooking online if you research. Hope this helps, Cheers Lyn x.
Erk I have posted this on the prep thread as well SORRY!0 -

Must share this.
Had an interesting chat with DS1 this morning. He phoned early, just to check in I think. During the course of the conversation he said, " I've decided not to have a gerbil.
Me: I didn't know you were thinking of having one.
DS: Well I was, but now I'm not.
Me: You haven't had one for ages.(thinks: you were 8 when you last had a gerbil.)
DS: I had one last year.
Me: I didn't know that.
DS: The doctor said it would be better not to have one at the moment.
Me: Why? Are you allergic to it?
DS: Allergic to what?
Me: The gerbil.
Stunned silence.
DS: Mother! Not a gerbil. A FLU JAB.
It's dementia, I know it is.I believe that friends are quiet angels

Oh, Monnagran, that is sooo funny. And I've done similar things; you start of with a mishearing and it's rapidly downhill from there..........:rotfl:Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Oh Monnagran I love it.
Jem - if you visit a walk in centre they can often fast track things through A&E for you. Please dont wait the two weeks.
Possession- hope you are feeling better soon.
My mind has now gone blank, have been reading bits all day and now I have chance to reply my brain has frozen.. My excuse is migraine, I have been so busy past few days and then today I had to do the last of the birthday stuff for DD on Monday so raced all over two towns to get everything done.
I came home to total mess, as OH had agreed to do a favour for a friend and drop an armchair at a charity shop, so consequently had to empty the whole car seats included. He had gone and the shop wouldnt take it and he hadnt been able to get hold of friend for four hours. So all the car stuff was all over the dining room and hall and all the seats were on the front lawn.
It also meant that nothing here had been done so I was not a happy bunny. When I eventually got hold of her she had gone out for day and wanted me to keep it for a few days - errr no, I need the car. Fine bring it back tonight then when I am home - errr no I need the seats back in the car!! Eventually she told him to take it to tip.
By which point my head felt like it was going to explode so I popped two painkillers and slept. Am now fuzzy but pain has subsided thankfully. Lesson to self - never do any favours when we are busy ourselves, it costs us heavily.
Kids are now waiting for bed and cant do as OH in in loft looking for the photos I need to scan for DD party, he was supposed to have doen it earlier but obviously time has rolled on.
Am admitting to being a little scared at the price rises I saw today, cereal has gone up from £1.09 to £1.58 in the space of a few days, and this is only the beginning, just how bad will it get?
One of our cats has lost his marbles, we think its dementia but as a result we are having to try to keep him in - he has taken to jumping out in front of cars, licking the road or even laying down and sleeping in centre of road. He got out today and we were frantically trying to get him back but again he came close to causing a crash - I am going to take him to the vet this week but if they cant help him then we may have to make a difficult choice. Losing him would be awful but the idea of him causing a crash is worse.
ETA - my Mr T has tins of chopped tomatoes on 4 for £1, they are in the world foods aisle along with the gluten free stuff. I bought 24 cans today!0 -
