JEM - as Monday will be three days (you might have been told three days because of the weekend) call and tell the surgery you need an emergency appointment on the the instructions of your optician. Make quite clear that you have been told by another medical professional that you need to see someone on Monday If they refuse, go to the emergency eye clinic at your local hospital. Either ask the surgery for the details or call your optician. They may even call your surgery for you to request the appointment.0

Jem , Please do as Lynn suggested and insist you get an emergency appointment with someone, either doctor or nurse. Please try to take it easy today and not stress too much.
Fuddle, mobile phones are a necessity these days and are not a status symbol as long as you don't go buying your kids the latest iphone or equivalent (I know you wouldn't). Starting them on mobiles younger also gives you more time to teach them about the responsibility of one before they hit teenage years and cost you a fortune!
My OH is a 6`2", well muscled, tattooed, skinhead biker. He is also one of the politest, thoughtfull people you would ever meet.
I also (i'm a girl!) ride motorbikes, have tats and a lot of piercings and bright dyed hair. A lot of people find it hard to believe that i'm a carer for a living! And I would like to think I have good maners too!0 -
Just to say that my Tesco Extra has very cheap drying racks for fitting over radiators in at the moment,. They're Value ones but they're reduced to three for £1. I've got racks over the bedroom and dining room radiators already but picked up another pack of three for overflow into the hall if necessary.Val.0

I feel so naughty! Both DD and I have had a long lie in today and are just about to have croissants and pain au chocolat (reduced in T's to 24p last night) Then onto cleaning with abandon. OH is working away this weekend and not coming down so I can get on. DD has Guide Camp next weekend so I have to get all her kit out, plus extra blankets I think, she is a hardy sort though so she will be fine.I promise that I will do my best.....0

DD got a £10 Tesco Pay as You Go mobile when she was seven and started walking to school on her own. It was basically just for emergencies and I put £10 of credit on it every three or four months. It was only last Christmas she asked for something a bit trendier, I got her a £35 LG Blackberry lookalike in pink and that was utterly fine with her, it was flashy enough for her and cheap enough for me! Also I could just put her Pay as You Go sim into it. One of her friends got a real Blackberry at the same time, she lost it within three months, eek.
Pay as You Go suits us as a tarrif for her, I still top it up for her but it's only £10 every two or three months even now. I can top it up from my own phone or online. Texts are what kids use these days, they're cheap. If she needs to talk to me she texts and I phone her back.Val.0 -

Pah, it's only October, it's still fine for camping if she's got a good sleeping bag and clothes. Which I'm sure she does! Our Scouts do a Brass Monkey camp in January, I send the kids with two sleeping bags each, lol. One girl turned up with a thin sleepover type bag, argh, so she got one of DD's sleeping bags and they put the sleepover bag as a quilt over the top of them both and were fine.Val.0 -
Morning all had a bit of a bad day yesterday went to the optician and she found a lump at the back of my eye and one on the lens she told me she was referring me to the hospital for a mri scan and to make an appointment with my gp in 3 days I went straight. To gp can't get an appointment for 2 weeks what an earth is going on. PLUS my head is banging and iv got 58 cupcakes and quality cake to make and a party to go to at 6. My df will be so cross if we don't go already fallen out with another threw her not going to gatherings and letting her down so that's not an option. Oh well on words and upwards better start baking
((Jem))
I agree with all the others, Jem, you need to be seen sooner than 2 weeks! Can you (or get OH to) phone the opticians today & let them know what the GP's practice said?
Your friend who has fallen out with people who didn't make her gatherings, I'm guessing the cakes were for her gathering?0 -
Pooky - or anybody else who knows - see this channel tunnel , what happens if you're on a bike? Are motorcycles allowed? I don't know how it works at all, have never even seen a pic. You all drive your cars onto a train or something? I can't picture that0

Yes exactly that! The train has 2 levels. You stay in your car, but can walk along the side to the toilet if necessary. I've certainly seen bikes, and found this:
Channel Tunnel by Motorbike
Using the channel tunnel to get to France by motorbike is just as easy as it is for cars. The Channel Tunnel trains are simple to board, and once your motorbike is parked on the train, all you need do is relax and enjoy the 35 minute trip under the Channel. For safety, motorbikes usually board towards the front or centre of the trains, rather than at the rear. Once parked up on the train, you stay with your motorcycle and belongings. In this respect, travelling by Eurotunnel makes life a bit easier for motorcyclists. It is sometimes a worry leaving your bike below deck on the cross Channel ferries, plus it can be a pain to have to unload valuables to take to the upper decks with you during transit. Of course it is possible to walk around the Channel tunnel trains if you want to stretch your legs a bit, plus there are toilets onboard available for use by all passengers.
Definitely better to book in advance or when there is a special offer, and go off-peak. A very long drive away from you though Mar!0
