Morning all had a bit of a bad day yesterday went to the optician and she found a lump at the back of my eye and one on the lens she told me she was referring me to the hospital for a mri scan and to make an appointment with my gp in 3 days I went straight. To gp can't get an appointment for 2 weeks what an earth is going on. PLUS my head is banging and iv got 58 cupcakes and quality cake to make and a party to go to at 6. My df will be so cross if we don't go already fallen out with another threw her not going to gatherings and letting her down so that's not an option. Oh well on words and upwards better start baking
Jem, please call back the GPs as soon as they are open (I assume Monday am) and INSIST on being seen within 48hrs via the emergency appointment system. Please do not take no for an answer. Drs are duty bound to offer emergency appts to those in need of them. When you see the GP ask for a Rapid Referral Clinic appointment if they don't automatically offer you one. These are the magic admin words that get you seen fastest.(use to be my field of work until recently) Lots of best wishes.Put the kettle on.0 -
Excuse any late comments I'm a few days behind due to being stupidly busy with paperwork but finally caught up with it all at last.
Hoping to stagger back into the loft again in a bit and carry on with the hoarding clear out..you may have to send out a search and rescue party with coffee and cake0 -
I passed a mobile telephone shop yesterday and they had a free Samsung phone but it offered 250 free minutes, so much data and so many texts monthly for £7.50 a month so if you are only using it to book taxi's tell someone that you are safe that doesn't seem bad...
In my case I have a Pay As You Go but now rarely use it at all(I have no one to call)so at best it would just be to book a taxi or use in an an emergency so if I put £5 on it that can last months and months."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

Mrs C, wanted to let you know I have been doing the low carbing for about 4 days now, need to get a memory transplant organised, and I no longer look like a pregnant elephant!:D:o
Any more recipes or ideas gratefully received especially bearing in mind cost. :T0 -

Thanks Possession, what a fab site!
I'm currently very lucky because I have been given permission to use the eggs where I'm house sitting. The chickens are a joy and I've tried them with various vegetables. They are laying really well too, so will give those egg muffins a try.0 -
TAWNY - It doesn't come over as anything but a really good mum doing a really good job and being honest, keep doing what you're doing, she'll be very well adjusted, Cheers Lyn x.0

Afternoon all
Had a nice surprise this morning, breakfast in bed! DS1 came in to give me strict instructions to stay in bed. DS2 carefully carried in a champagne glass filled with orange juice and a huge beam on his face. Then DH came up with a tray with my chintzy teapot/cup and saucer all in one job they bought me for Mother's Day last year plus toast and jam.
Made up for the broken night's sleep I got. Torrential rain woke me up and then I lay there for ages feeling anxious. We have a flat roof (whole roof not just an extension) and have had leaks before, last year being the worse. We spent a lot of money last year getting part of the roof repaired so should be fine (and it was) but still everytime I hear heavy rain like that, I feel nervous. Last year I woke up in the early hours to water coming through the landing lightfitting.
Had a quiet day today as still have no energy. DH took boys into town and they bought a toy boys have been saving up for a while and also a couple of books and a video from a wonderful shop where people donate unwanted books, DVD/videos, mags etc and volunteers give them away for free (donations encouraged but not in a pressured way.) They have just opened a sister shop giving away non entertainment stuff, mostly small household items. A bit like freecycle but in shop form. We have lots of unwanted videos but charity shops mostly not taking anymore so when I have time will drop ours off to the "free" shop.
Boys also received a parcel from my mum and sister - few Halloween things, a big chocolate Olympic medal each and a collection of knitted outfits suitable for their massive collection of soft toys - DS1 emailed my mum to ask for some (outfits that is). I really appreciate the parcel and glad their nanny and auntie are staying in touch with them but wished they thought as much of me as I/they have stopped contacting each other now completely, I am very very hurt but can do no more and I very much doubt they will do anything to try and salvage our relationship. Oh well I can't dwell on it, only get upset again so will concentrate on my own little family here and my friends and c'est la vie.
Right have to go and put on that new to us video on as our old TV is playing up.
Hope everyone is having a nice Saturday afternoon. Try and post again later - forgot what I wanted to reply to as my kids are being really noisy here. DH has gone for a nap as he still feels washed out.

SQ - Your family sound as if they are more than enough to make up for lack of other relatives, what a lovely thing to do for you after what must have been a harrowing night. I hope you enjoyed the treat very much. The 'Free' shop sounds a wonderful idea, how commonsensicle is that, it's a win win situation for everyone and a new one for household will be of immense help to so many people in these straitened times. Hope you have managed to catch a nap today and are feeling much better now, Cheers Lyn x.0
