There are quite a few of us on here from Manchester and its surrounds now, maybe we could have a toughie meet later in the autumn so Kidcat and possibly Lisakay and Homerdog could join us? Who else is from this neck of the woods?

  • Fuddle hope you are surviving the sleep over, take lots of videos, when mine were young I used to hire a camera as they were rather expensive and video sleep overs and much was had later over the years by children and friends watching them.

Can I be a pest and ask again where is best for hubby park in Manchester tomorrow as I forgot to write it down and cannot find the posts now. I will be near centre not far I have been told from abakhans, a McD would be ok as he could sit in there reading and have a drink with loo on hand till I phone him.

    Thanks

  • DS is crying himself to sleep because I won't let him spend £27 (his money) on a WW2 gas mask. Only because if he actually HAS SOME PATIENCE there are lots more listed in the next few days and he will get one much cheaper.
    I'm so mean. : (

WW2 gas masks frighten the life out of me! Money down the drain though. Hopefully he will realise that he could get something else with the savings? I'm debating whether to give eldest DD pocket money now she's 8. She's got £5 birthday money and would like a one direction poster. Not sure whether it's been a want for a while or a whim. I can't shake "that £5 would get us........." it's her money, I just wish she would save it to out towards something g more substantial
  • Another thing for me to feel guilty about - the children did get a small amount of pocket money, but when DH got made redundant we stopped it. This is the money from selling their toys - I have (obviously) let them spend some of it, but I wanted them to save for something they really wanted (and for DS to learn some ****** patience). He does really want some WW2 stuff, and has set his heart on this, but he only wanted this one because it finished today, not because there was anything special about it. He's a born collector.
He won't change his mind, he's always like this and he's completely fixated on a gas mask now - just have to find one for a reasonable price.

Remember the days when you got free Pin up pictures of pop stars in magazines? Now it's big business!

They'll be safe now but some years ago there were worries about gas masks because they had asbestos in them and in many it was crumbling...

Should be a good meeting tomorrow with Smiley, Pah and Ginny...happy-friends-smiley-emoticon.gif

It will probably only be a saving of 30p-50p but though I put my red onions on the conveyor belt and they went through the checkout I have looked at my receipt a few minutes ago and I wasn't charged for them...not my fault.

I have given in and put the CH on for an hour but will switch it off soon and put warmer clothes on...

Snacks and Coop :eek: I'm pleased to report that he's managed to accommodate the wish for croissants - 18p reduced.

I chucked the towel in early on with mine and just took out a mortgage to have someone else entertain and feed them.

All growed up now though, but I still have nightmares about 'sleepovers', I really don't know why they call them that.
