I think Mum said they had a daily dose of Castor Oil when they were children. I have forgotten some of the tales she told me and should have asked more. I remember when people had Cod Liver Oil in liquid form, it was often given with orange juice or milk.
Which I see has been verified whilst I wrote my post...there's lots of things come back about childhood but I can never quite remember how long we did things for(a bit like that thread that discussed what we ate in the 1950's and 60's and the stories about Sunday Tea...
For a time Mum used to drink PLJ lemon on a morning diluted in hot water(I think)and I remember having a Halliborange tablet daily. Also remember Rosehip syrup but I don't remember again how often we had it or when we stopped having it.
Hi Pops you have sparked my memories again. We used to have PLJ and haliborange tablets in the late sixties and you are remembering right your mum would have diluted the PLJ with hot water!0 -
I downloaded a pattern from the lion brand site, its for a long shrug with 3/4 sleeves and appears to just be a rectangle sown at the sides. Well that will do nicely with a crochet hook. I need to look up worsted yarn though, it`s either dk or aran and I have both in my stash
oh no please don`t let me go on any sites selling wool of any sort  The idea is that I reduce my stash not add to it
went out for carrots today and bought 14 kg for dehydrating tomorrow also 2kg of chestnut mushrooms which have filled the 9 trays and are doing today. Lol winter cooking will be a doddlea handful of this and that all in my hm white wine, meat added plus seasonings and bobs your uncle
I can`t wait to get started on the crochet fuddle
edit: oh that plj, we all had it as it was supposed to help make you slim0 -
Just finished reading back - my god you talk a lot!
GQ yes Kemps are very good, also google "King Cole Zigzag" and "Regia sock wool" those are not dear and you'll get loads of stockists. I cant believe the prices of some of the posh sock wools on Ravelry, hand-dyed handspun and megabucks!
Fuddle I had something to say to you but its gone completely out of my head and I'll need come back to it later
What kinds of foods will go up in price because of the bad wheat harvest ? We should stock up now on whatever it is.
There's something about wool isnt there...all those lovely colours and you can stroke it....arghhhh!0 -
Oh dear
Kemps are selling lucky bags of wool, now it would be churlish not to buy if they are offering them wouldn't it?
Having a quiet day, crafting, cleaning and trying to find something interesting on tv. its cold and threatening rain, though we had a lot in the night so really we have had our quota
Harvested a handful of raspberries last night and resisted the temptation to eat them all - they are now sitting in the freezer in a lock box waiting for more to join them. Did eat a huge strawberry though because thats the law, never ever leave one poor lonely strawberry !
SDG so glad you had a good time. Its good when you have a personal inscription on a book - I once met Max Boyce ( do any of you remember him?) OH was joking with him and he put a slightly cheeky note in our book - I treasure it to this day.Clearing the junk to travel light

I'm reduced to knitting plastic bags at the moment. I started making a bag out of them ages ago and then forgot about it when I had more exciting projects. Now I'm pee'd off with the basket weave scarf I'm knitting in what I think is 4 ply and it's taking forever. So the plastic bags have come out again.
(I think it is 4 ply as the label is in some slavic language. I got it for 50p a ball in the local charity shop. It's pure wool and has 1000m in a ball. Pity they only had two of them)0 -
Afternoon everyone,
Well we have that yellow ball in the sky they call the sun, it came out two hours ago and still there.
So lots of washing on the line, hopeing to get it all dry.
I love knitting and have a few scarves on the go, for presents might try some socks after I have finished these.C.R.A.P. R.O.O.L.Z. Member. 21 Norn Iron deputy h

My kind of dayDo as I do: I have long lost any hope of finding anything interesting on TV when I am actually able to watch it. Instead, I watch of iplayer/4OD/etc and even have a collection of "feel good" dvds for cosy times. In fact, if it wasn't for my husband's wish of a TV, I would get rid of live TV and stop my direct debit to the TV licence poeple

What a GREAT idea! I have plenty of a plastic bags I could. The non biodegradable type that I always promise myself I will take to the recycling centre but never do.0 -

Feeling yuk and I have 5 children for tea tonight who are planning some kind of battle of the sexes. Should be fun. Still, HM pizza is a nice OS tea and since I have enough pizza base mix of fill an olympic stadium from AF, nice and cheap.
I can't be tempted by the wool, as I can't knit to sae my life!0
