    Monnagran - how exciting, lovely,

Possession- my dad called every hour when I was in with DD17, so much so that the midwife gave him a detailed lecture at 6am explaining labour takes hours and as a first timer she wasnt expecting any news until early evening. It therefore came as a shock to her and to my dad when I delivered three hours later!!

Mardatha - I hope the doc can offer some help, I know what you mean about feeling so tired. Having been ill and in pain now for what seems like months I am really down about it, all the pills knock me sideways so I am just about managing to get kids to school then taking pills and then collapsing on the sofa until pick up.

Fuddle - what a lovely neighbour

Mrs C - I think as a fish and chip van I wouldnt expect much more of you than that, so offering any alternatives is good.

Have had to cancel my smear appointment today, and will re-arrange it next week. The pills they gave me mean I cant drive, and OH at work, I asked my dad and he told me not to be ridiculous forget the pills and suck it up!

    Oooh Kidcat! naughty Dad!

Honestly how would he fancy having a big metal spoon shoved up his whatsit and scraped about? No, I didn't think so!

That's all very well for him to say - he's not the one having a spatula poked up his doodah! (For the men reading this - Popperwell and Nuatha - it's not actually the size of a cooking spatula, in case you were astounded .... it's quite a bit smaller than that :rotfl:.)

If I had a magic wand I would wave it for you to give you some good health. xx

Mar - hope you're feeling better quickly

this looks really fun, but is stuff like this why online shopping costs so much?!

Looks like it will take much longer, and by the time you have spent navigating it would be quicker to actually visit the store.

So much for the 'online shopping isn't profit making, just service providing' idea that was reported yesterday. Obviously it's not making any profit and not worth spending ££££'s on IT to upgrade it. I need a roll eye smiley.
  • Fuddle how about some small Twinks half dipped in very dark chocolate.
Naughty but intense so might last longer!

  • Fuddle - seem to remember you were thinking of planting garlic? It's very easy, but some tips: go to your local garden centre and buy the stuff they sell for planting, does much better than just planting the SM stuff. Go for the largest, fattest bulbs you can find, as obviously each separate clove is going to grow into a whole new bulb, so you want to get your moneys worth!
If your soil is claggy and heavy, plant them on little mounds, or a ridge - does not need to be Alpine, just a trowel or two of extra soil to help drainage if it's a wet winter. I would be planting them within the next few weeks; they will shoot a bit, then stop. It's cheering to see them bravely poking through the snow....
When they start growing again in the spring, it's really important to keep them well fed and watered, as this is when the bulbs swell. You can lift them as soon as the tops start to turn yellow. Dry them out, but do eat some of them now - they are gorgeous, mellow and crisp and yummy. And then make a nice plait or two for your kitchen - I am carp with knitting etc. but even I can make a decent looking plait of garlic, so should be a doddle for you. Bask in the glory of home grown garlic. Repeat in following years, but move them around so you are not growing in the same space two years running.
    HTH, the cake.
