Fuddle if you decide to try out other herbal teas be warned , raspberry tea bungs you up. I thoughtfully got Oh addicted to it, thinking it was much better than coffee and he ended up really ill :o

This whole delivery charge business is yet again hitting those who are housebound or are working their cotton socks off and dont have time to shop

Its damn chilly here so I need to go and wrap up. I also have a draught coming in from the pantry which is next to my desk so need to address that asap.

FairyP tell your Oh that shopping trolleys are the new black, everyone who is everyone uses them now. Im sure if you look in a celebrity magazine ( obviously when you are in the dentist as we dont waste money on them) you will see all the 'A' listers with funky trolleys :rotfl:

Softstuff - *hugs* hope your dad is doing ok.

GQ - Hope you're starting to feel better.

You've all made me want a cup of tea now :p And on the topic of tea, I would also avoid too much liquorice tea - one of my brothers was drinking is rather excessively and had to be taken to hospital because of how high his blood pressure got! I enjoy red bush tea - not sure if it's actually any good for you though!

  • Thanks to whoever mentioned the dried veg at Am@zon, have just ordered 3kg bag as my friend wants a kilogram and the bigger bag works out cheaper per kilo as well as saving nearly £4 in pp.

Hoping to get to A/di tomorrow to pick up some vegetables unless hubby called in for afternoon round, but that is unlikely.

Also hoping cold will not develop, started sneezing yesterday and today head and nose blocked and feel 'blah' but this I can cope with, like how I felt on Friday, viruses and bugs I can cope and carry on its the normal health probs that floor me. At least you can fight them.

Got to be well for Sunday as got a meet-up from another forum and I thought would have to see if could travel on my own on train as hubby had bowls comp but its been cancelled so he can take me which is good.

Am making chicken to make soup for tonight see if that sees the cold off as hubby today has been sneezing. Just out of leeks which I like in it, might ask hubby to pop into Mr S to pick me up some on his way home as fruit and veg shop will be closed by then.

If I was to buy a pressure cooker, what one would you suggest, as considering it as food cooks so quick in them. Never used to like the taste(used to think food was tasteless in them) but could live with that if cut costs or ensured quick cooking for less money.

Smileyt hope you have woken up feeling a bit better I just I had a suggestion to help. All I can do is send you hugs, not much help, sorry.

It poured all morning but dry now but freezing and blowing a gale, type of weather that would dry washing but although blue sky can be see a lot of dark clouds so wondering should I risk washing out.

GQ I hope you are ok at work, even 4 hrs can seem a long, long time when you are feeling under par.

Hugs and Love to all xxx

Softstuff ((hug)) sorry I missed your post earlier.

If delivery charges rise I think it may well work out cheaper for the housebound to pay a person to shop for them instead, in fact that may be the way to go for many people, join together to have one delivery slot.

Pah - I have a Prestige pressure cooker - a stainless steel one, the old 'rise and time'model. I got it half price in Boots years ago.

I like the stainless steel one as I can use the pan for preserves as well.

The newer models have a simpler system I think, but all basically the same. Good thing about Prestige is the spares are easy to get.

I much prefer the PC to SC, I find that the flavour develops very quickly for things like stew (best was oxtail, which takes forever, had delicious oxtail stew in 45 mins).

  • For those like me who like butter beans, the Greeks do a wonderful dish with them in the winter months called Gigantes (as in giant beans)... I will look out the recipe and post it for you all..as I am sure it could be used as a sauce for any beans you do like.

Off to do my ironing now my other half has fixed my iron and my hands won't stick to the handle like last time with the tape he put on lol..it melted in the heat from the steam. Now its properly fixed he doesn't need to buy a new one.

Wanted to sort out my winter clothes and put them ready but its gone back to 32 in the shade. I was stifled walking around town! Didn't actually buy anything as they all had the summer stuff in on sale.....now if they had been displaying a nice fluffy jumper I would have been well and truly tempted. But no, I have enough summer clothes now and the flimsy little numbers did nothing for me. So my birthday money is still safely in my purse. I also found one euro twenty in my fleece pocket that had been there since April when I last wore it...so it was a bonus to my savings lol.

Made a soup with spare veg and it was lovely, courgettes, rocket, lettuce, mushrooms, onion and a bit of stock and left over coconut milk blended......even my OH liked it!

Will post the recipe for the Gigantes later . Have a lovely day folks! The ironing pile is calling my name....

Fuddle I'm afraid I wouldnt take a blind bit of notice if a doc told me to cut my tea. As long as you dont take sugar what harm can tea be doing?? Unless you've got water retention lol which at your age you won't have. I've lost all faith in docs since I got ME. My old gp once said I'll have the healthiest kidneys on the planet with the amount of tea I drink.
I just got this from the library - ME getting a cookery book!! But its hilarious and fabulous and I will buy a copy fr amazon now. Read the reviews :)

It's worth a try I guess. If it keeps away the sore tummy. :) Is there still the same benefits of drinking tea with de-caffeinated?

British Gas have replaced my faulty electric smart meter. I can now watch my consumption again. The handy thing is that this one has a temperature display too. It's 18 degrees in here. I'm surprised as I thought it was cooler than that.
