  • Hope that you are successful with your winter veg Marie;)

I had a feeling when Fuddle asked the question some veg could be sown at this time of year...a little more than I originally thought.

Plain black hoppa? That's mine :D

I've been debating whether to take it on the village street tomorrow as I need potatoes, onions and bleach. A North Eastern village front street where everyone has an opinion on everybody. I don't know whether I'm brave enough yet but it's going to save an awful lot of back ache. Nope, talked myself out of it. Weakling.

Going to go down after 11.30am to try to catch any reductions in the Coop.

Stop worrining about it and just DO IT! Us trolley dollies have to show the rest of the world how it's done. Where we lead, others follow.
I drive an ancient square tartan jobbie with wobbly wheels and a busted a$$ zip. I drag it behind me like the faithful servant it is, and don't give a monkeys.

Mine is tartan and goes virtually everywhere with me now, even on the bus lately...much better than carrier bags, even the ruck sack I purchased first isn't used that much, you get stuff in it ok but the weight:(but the trolley is great and you don't realise just how heavy a few items can be especially if they have liquid in them...

Though whilst I can afford to go to a few shows at the theatre(which may stop as income reduces...)I have taken the backpack and had something to read...crisps, water or fruit juice, sweets etc...and it has been very handy.

I am chutney making tomorrow with this recipe -- it is brilliant and cheap if you cane get some apples looking for a good home

    Apple Chutney.
6 lbs of apples ( weight after peeling )
2.5 lbs of Soft Brown Sugar
    1.5 pints of vinegar
    2 ozs salt
    2 ozs garlic
    2 ozs mustard seeds
    2 ozs ground ginger
    1 lb raisins
    3 heaped tsps cayenne pepper.
Soften the apples with the brown sugar. ( Keep stirring at this stage or the sugar may weld to the bottom of the pan!! )
Add all the other ingredients and simmer til pulpy and reduced. ( if you run the spoon across the surface of the chutney the vinegar should not fill the channel)
    Stir frequently
Bottle in warm sterilised jars. ( Either wash in a dishwasher or stand freshly washed jars upside down in a warm oven for 10 mins)
    Makes about 12 lbs.
Try and do a good deed every day.

Hello :) Very well put. After I stopped working (and before I'd decided to go to uni) he said he didn't care if he had to work 70 hours a week to make it work, he would just be happy that I wouldn't be miserable. I think we're both feeling slightly more positive today, we spent last night watching a movie together, which we don't do that often, so that was nice :)

He sounds lovely. Glad you had a nice date night, you should make a habit of it.

Jeez GQ, you don't do things by halves you. Take care of yourself, have a few days off sick with your jimmy jams. Time to break out the emergency chocolate. Bet you wish you had the damsons now.

I have to dash, I've got to get ready for work. Teehee, that's fun to say :D.

I've just had a bright idea, all of you who have pylons could band together and start a new OS energy company - howzat for a good idea? Gawd help us - ducks and runs!!!!!!!! Night, Cheers Lyn xx P.S. Hope the anti biotics have kicked in by now and you are feeling much more comfortable L.

He is, I'm very lucky :) We always say we'll arrange a regular date night, but it never seems to happen!
  • GQ, I read back a bit, how horrible for you. I've had attacks of pyelonephritis, mine was down to a congenital malformation (sorted with an op, 27 years ago) and the pain was truly horrendous at its worst.

Pamper yourself as much as possible, all the usual advice, barley water and keeping warm. I'm convinced your smear experience was the root of it. Any trauma to the area will make it easier for the bugs to get a foothold and when your immune system is already compromised... well!

I've stopped being embarrassed about my granny trolley. I'm just grateful for the support it gives me. I saw a guy on the 21 bus with a Rollser last week (cow pattern!) and was admiring it, looked really good.
Did anyone see Secrets of Poundland on Ch 4? I caught it on 4+1. Nothing I couldn't have worked out for myself tbh, (Poundland sizes are often smaller, bread 600g, Nutella 180g) but still interesting.

  • Missed that but will watch later on the laptop...try and catch the C4 programme I think it's called Food Unwrapped...last week's was interesting. I usually seem to have "Late Nights!"

I nearly travelled on the 21 last week for the first time and my first visit to Peterlee...may try again in a few weeks time and take my trusty trolley with me:)

There was a knock on my door about an hour ago that never happens, I have no idea who it was, it knocked once but I did not answer.

I'd rather be safe, can't remember the last time that happened...
