In the open learning thing, under psychology, there's a unit on the autistic spectrum. That might be interesting to some of the mums on here.

No word yet re job so I am assuming I haven't got it. Oh well, at least I will still have my notetaking to go back to in the autumn.

so far w euro countries potato yield is down by 2 million tonnes due to the late planting and that does not take blight into account. Wheat futures are soaring due to searing heat in usa and russia

Been raining steadily all day since 12 and I am glad we did so much during the last few days. I put my two fragile cucumbers out several days ago and their tendrils have wrapped onto a trellis, it will be so satisfying to get a cucumber. lol, it is the small things that count

Seeing the crochet posts has revived my interest in crochet and knitting, so I think I`ll be digging out some patterns tomorrow. I fancy making a plain gilet type garment for me, no buttons, just something to keep my back warm. I have a garment to unpick first, I almost finished a sleeved top and I didn`t like it so didn`t have the will but it is coming back fast

They are really helpful smiley. I did the dyslexia unit when we found out my DH had it. I explained things to him in a way that he could grasp as he walked out of the doctors confused.

Just trying to sort out my meal plan re: nutrition. A good guide for the layman here http://www.nutrition.org.uk/healthyliving/basics/what-are-nutrients?start=1

dragonette If you want free patterns there are tons on the net.
If you want bought ones there are some here and here that I use. I am sure there are others around too.

Thank you, my biggest problem is finding clothing patterns I want to wear. I have a few of Annie's books for tunisian crochet which are good (tho with mistakes). I thonk I'm my own worst enemy tbh as I'm bored of making flat things, which are great for pressies, but am drawn to chunky and super chunky yarns, even ravelry searches struggle to get appropriate results for the size of yarns I already have. Can't buy more till I use up the stash!

I'm working away atm, will have to bring 2 projects with me next week instead of 1!!

I have a couple of tomatoes coming. :j my mum gave me the plant as well as a pepper as all mine failed :(

cPleased to see I have been a part in inspiring you kittie. I shan't get used to it though as I doubt it will happen again ;)

I have been through those nutritional lists (sorry it's getting dark and I'm sat by the bay window at y desk, I have no curtains so I'm not utting the light on, you'll have to excuse the typo's :o ) and wrote all the food (and the dog is in my face wanting stroking, he's currently go his paw on my hand as i type) 0 !!!!!! lol

ok, so I'll type the list out:

    bread
    rice
    pasta
    cereals
    nuts
    seeds
    pulses
    whole grains
    fortified breakfast cereals
    oats

    potatoes
    fruit
    veg

    eggs
    milk
    cheese
    yoghurt
    butter
    oils veg/seed/olive
    red meat
    pork
    poultry
    offal
    shellfish
    oily fish

I'm quite surprised. It's not really rocket science. I just need a wider variety of veg (I knew anyway) different meat products not heavily mince (I knew anyway) add more pulses (knew anyway) and more fish/oily fish (knew anyway)

At least I have a list now. Knowlege is my tool to flicking away anxiety. Sorry for boring you all with what you probably all know :o

I saw the family on that program in WW2 having fish oil. Was that for omega 3?

I don't know how it was in the UK, but in France kids started being given regular cod live oil in the 19th century as a way to strengthen your immune system. Why, I don't know...

Yep, this weather almost mirrors the mood of the nation. I always like to think of myself as an honorary British, but on days like this one today, I can't help but be nostalgic of what I left behind :( (and then I realise that I have a great husband and lovely neighbours and very nice in-laws and try to stop moaning :rotfl: )

Ellie where did you originally liveemo4.gifI know you have no choice but I hope your move goes smoothly. If you moan I think you are definately British but I think most of our moans are justified.

I had my eye on a wind up torch come radio pops it's on the wishlist. ;) Love your smileys by the way!

    Fuddle,
I had no idea there was so much choice of wind up radio's and that many have a torch built in, even can be charged by using the sun...Amazon seem to have quite a range...Most are AM/FM and there is talk that they'll eventually switch to DAB radio. But if it's years away an AM/FM receiver would be fine...and last quite a long time.

You can get wind up DAB radio's too...

Fuddle thanks for the link to OU some nice little courses there and it would seem I can do them in my own time as I start on a good day and keep it up for a bit then get a few bad days and end up not doing anything for months..........I enjoy studying and learning new things.....

Well done on just making half a jar of jam - how many people would have either just eaten the fruit or thrown it as there was not enough to cook with and there you go turning it into enough for all, wonderful xxxxx

My Mum believed in cod liver oil capsules and my auntie who lived to 103 or was it 104 always took them...I think they have vitamins A, D, E in them. They are supposed to be good for the bones but I'm sure that they have omega 3 and won't do any harm...
