  • monnogran, i just nearly wet myself laughing. when i got up the other morninh dh was sat in the garden staring intently at the floor. he had put pegs on 6 slugs and was watching to see what they did.
I now have my DD's well trained...when they see slugs now they jump on them to see how far they can shoot their guts:o:eek::p.
snails might be raced for a few minutes before we see how far we can drop kick them.

Well done Lisakay, the cake looks fabby :D

My DD's birthday is next Saturday and we've said she can have 2 friends to stay. The plan is McDonald's tea, DVD's and girly makeup, sleep (I hope) and then Soft Play on Sunday morning. Smallest DD is sleeping at MIL's because she would get in the way of her sister - poor little thing, but secretly little one is chuffed to be going to Gran's on her own to get spoilt.

Mam and sister coming today. Making burgers in buns salad and chips and now a peach cobbler and custard :D Nervous as always but i'll be alright.

Off to find a recipe for soft bread buns. Sometimes I wish I would just buy things when they come over and not put myself through it but - extra cost isn't it

Thanks for that Mrs C will go and look. Averting eyes from sluggy posts cos am eatin my porridge. And I am dead miffed that GQ has more tins of peaches then I do. Sainsbugs Basics peaches 29p - and Fuddle the instant custard at 6p is fine, I do same as MrsC and add a glop of cream .

This looks like a good recipe Fuddle - I am going to make these later I think. All-purpose is just plain flour, I guess using that rather than strong bread flour makes the rolls softer. I am forever looking for the perfect roll recipe, I have high hopes of this one!

I manage without a car, every single day. DH has use of the work car on a weekend so we're not totally without wheels but as far as running the household without the use of one... no problem ;) Go for it, mine cost £100 a month to just do the shopping and that didn't take into account repairs or road tax and MOT/service.

I need your ingenious ideas. DD (7) has ripped her nail right down to the nail bed. It's going to take months to grow out so the poor lass is going to have to have it covered so not to catch it. She would like a plaster on it and then some sort of bandage to cover it - funky mam, a funky one!

The only thing I can think of is crochet stripe a colourful one but then she'll have wool on her finger, at least if there's a bandage there's obviously something wrong.

Just stocked up my first aid supplies in the shopping last night too thank goodness - see preparedness mockers ;):p

Off to ebay to have a look at catering badages, they are blue aren't they - kids!

Poor little girl! Still waiting for my thumb nail to grow out from shutting it in a car door in January - it now looks almost normal, but still curves up slightly so catches on anything.

I've got a recipe for 'ultimate burger baps' in the fabulous baker brothers book the boys bought me for my birthday, if that helps?

Lisa, cake looks brilliant! Much more ambitious than the 1 I'm doing for baby sis' birthday - mind you, she's 31, so I don't think would be impressed with a barbie cake :-)

It looks similar to the 1 in my book, & has the advantage of using more basic ingredients ;-) I'd go with Mrs C's recommendation!

    I'm 27 and i'd love a Barbie cake :D:o

Lisa the cake is fab, i bet your DD was thrilled :) I did one like that for DD1's 4th birthday, this year (11th) she wants a 'Twilight' one so i'd better get my thinking cap on! DS insisted on a Mallard cake for his birthday in June, he is such a little trainspotter but couldn't choose something simple like Thomas Tank lol and DD2 had a Peppa Pig cake for her 1st birthday, that was the easiest.

Hester - butterbean spread and falafels - have you been reading Frugal Queen? I've done the same this weekend :rotfl:

FuddleHope it goes well with your visitors today, try not to fret. And hope DD's finger isn't too sore, i remember my nail coming off when i was about 8 after getting it shut in the car door - ow!

Going to have an easy day today as my legs won't do what they're told, planning on setting myself up on the sofa with my laptop and crochet and copious amounts of tea :)

    Lovely Barbie cake!
You're all very brave with these sleepovers. I have steadfastly avoided so far but DD is doing her best to wear me down.
