The lady who gave a talk at WI last night used to be a primary school teacher until a 7 year old stabbed her, she didn't go into details but implied it was quite bad and she never could face going back.
She learnt afterwards flower arranging and now travels all over the world demonstrating it as well as doing wedding etc.

I only post every now and again because I try to solve the problems of the Universe!
I'm trying now to think of how to try and help Shergar.
I know there is a limit to what anyone on a forum can do but I hate this feeling of helplessness.
Also there is a danger of posting the obvious and not helping at all.C.R.A.P.R.O.L.L.Z Able Archer0 -
Oh Shegar, so sorry for your poor husband and you. Sometimes it seems that life is so unfair! Hugs, for all they may help, I just wish I could do more
.
Fuddle - thanks for thinking about me, having to go out to work meant I could not sit and brood, a bit better now as getting the other side of a big hunk of chocolateI believe it is a mood enhancer!
It seems that everyone is having a hard time of it one way or another, so even more reason to stick together as much as possible - my problems are nothing compared to some here and I know I would be lost without the support I get from the thread.Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0 -
Shegar, sending you and your hubby love and light and strength pet, and adding your names to our healing list. Be sure that all of us in here are doing the same, and that our strength is washing over you and surrounding you both xxx0

SHEGAR - You're a strong, strong woman and my admiration for how you cope is huge, I so hope that the Medics and you combined can sort this out for your OH and you. Stay strong and know we're all thinking of you and if you need to share the frustration do it here - we'll listen, just wish we could do something practical to help as well, chin up Cheers Lyn xxx.
FUDDLE - there used to be a hand product called SNOWFIRE that is used by professional chefs, I sold it when I worked in a pharmacy, and all the restaurant chefs came in for it. I don't think it's very expensive and you put it on at night and wear cotton golves overnight but I'm sure it was very effective as a hand healer. Might be worth asking if it's still made Cheers Lyn xxx.0 -
Thinking of smiley too, if you're reading hun hope you're feeling better too x
Boyoboy. We're in need of some good news aren't we.
Remember my Tesco order in a bid to get the basics before the risk of them being taken away before DH is paid. Well I totally forgot the reasoning behind submitting my order early (to come on the 15th) and updated it with some hand cream (Derma 75p) The basics baked beans and mushy peas are unavailable so I've had to get the next brand up. Kicking myself because had I left it they would have given me them via the substitution route for no extra cost. Kicking myself.
Although rather embarrassed for talking about some tins when people are seriously worried about major stuff. Sorry0 -
I've been looking through the High Street clothes shop websites for new clothes for DS. He's only 16 but he's a rugby prop and built like a bull from all the weight training and such and as a result he's grown out 90% of his clothes again this summer, mostly across the shoulders. School uniform and shoes were all bought at the start of term but he needs some winter clothes and also for a couple of upcoming school trips. Most teenage/young men's fashions seem to be cut for pipecleaners though, not bulldozers. Where do rugby props buy their clothes then? I'm seriously looking for stuff with a 48" chest and bigger than normal thigh girth. And at a decent price because he's just going to grow out it next year. Goodness knows what size he'll be by the time he's 21...
Just replying to this before I go back to catch up on the rest of the thread - gosh we can't half yatter on here!
My OH is a substantial lad (varies between 18 and 19 stone) but lots of it is muscle bulk - he was a serious swimmer so has massive shoulders and then went on to do some body building so has big thighs. Although he hasn't for years he has always done physical jobs - been a warehouse man for the last 12 years - so has kept up the muscle. He has trouble with clothes, mainly finding tops that fit his shoulders and trousers that fit is thighs without having to go up to many waist sizes and wear a belt. We've found Matalan is the best low price store for big blokes that are muscle bulk rather than just fat IFKWIM - their clothes seem to be cut better for shoulders and thighs and if your lad is still growing it won't be too ruinous if he grows out of stuff in 6 months! Next and Primark are the worst for making clothes for his shape - he can't get his shoulders into even their largest sizes.
Ok must go catch up - not ignoring anyone else - just not got there yet!
ETA: Shegar - wishing I could sent you more than virtual hugs - stay strong. X0 -
