OH. MY. GOD. I think I am going to scream. DD and BF got the key for their new place this morning in the post...They've just been round there and the new central heating boiler is leaking in the cupboard on the first floor, and dripping through the floorboards/ceiling into the sitting room!!!:eek::( in equal measure. DD has phoned the letting agent and is now having a flap because she has to wait for them to call her back...

Kate I take it this wasn't happening when they viewed the property? The LL will have to get it fixed pronto. Unfortunately this often happens in recently developed properties which have been empty while being refurbished, as LLs won't put the boilers in until the last minute because they get stolen.

Does anyone use hand cream? My hands are awfully dry. Is there anything out there that is proven good good for housewife hands and has stood the test of time... without being any more than a couple of £'s?

Palmer's cocoa butter in a tube. Wonderful stuff!

Oh Katie! I'm frustrated on your behalf. For goodness sakes. It never rains but it pours. Let us know how it goes. It really isn't fair.

Noted about the baby lotion. What was the other one? Atreexo? Edit: Palmers, Oh I like that, had it for my stretch marks (sorry) when had the eldest. Thank you

I love it when the Christmas stuff comes out but t'werly right now for me to get excited. I would like a look in Card Factory though, it's cheap and good value for the paper and cards imo.

What was that about magnesium? I've missed summat. Will read back, don't worry. ;)

Goodness me. I leave you all alone for a few hours and you write War and Peace. Have just caught up.
Olly: What do you mean, 'motor mouth?' Have you not realised that this here is a convention of motormouths. You've a long way to go to catch up. And it may not be a 'tips' thread, but hang around long enough and I can guarantee that your education will be expanded considerably.

2tonsils: worry not. I am tying a bottle of brandy round the St Bernard's neck as we speak. Chocolate? You'll be lucky.

Fuddle: I'm not sure if the Baby stuff will be thick enough to do much good. I would be tempted to try to find any old handcream on offer. The trick is to use it REGULARLY. I don't, which explains a lot about the sandpapery bits on the ends of my arms.

Now. I Was offered some baguettes last night and some bread. Would I like some for our drop-in. As I'm a gal who can't say no, I said Wheel it in. Late last night a van pulled up and 5 large boxes, each containing 50 baguettes were brought in plus a couple of boxes of sliced wholemeal loaves. Apart from the fact that I can't walk across the hall I have no clue what to do with them. I don't have enough freezer space for more than a few and people I have rung up have said Oh yes, they will take a couple. Which just leaves me about 240 to accommodate.

Suggestions please. It's all or nothing here!

No the LL has had the night storage take out and gas central heating put in especially.

He will have to get it fixed pronto...because I can't stand DD being here a moment longer.

eek! breadcrumbs and croutons. At least you can stuff em in the cracks and crannies of the freezer. Sliced up as toast pizza's. Sliced to just defrost as and when. That just leaves what 225? Blimey! lol
  • Things are getting tougher where I work, we have another batch of older teachers being squeezed out as they are too expensive, we are taking on so many NQT's it's unreal. I've been asked to do my 'holiday days' covering evening events, I'm happy to do this, but the person who used to do the evening events is furious.
We have 3 or 4 staff on long term sick with stress & two office staff on 'capability watch'.
My 2 hour a day assistant is no longer available & has been moved to other duties & she's been replaced with a muppet who cannot help as she cannot use my machines & is too scared to learn!
All this in the name of cost cutting, the problem for some of the older teachers they are on such hige salaries that they can't find jobs in other schools as all schools are trying to economise.

Just a long shot - but do you, or another local organization, do a soup run/ run a soup kitchen? Could some of them be used for that over the next couple of days? Err, sorry - can't think of anything else so I'll scurry back to lurking!
