We definately have autumn here. OH came down from his shower shivering, thats a big problem for him now, he never felt the cold when he was a chunky builder type of man.

Made blackberry jelly last night using my new thermometer from Hobbycraft - £3.25 :T Got lots more to do, stashed a load of cheap strawberries in the freezer a couple of weeks ago too. Making prawn biryani for tea as i got a sauce for 59p from B &M. There seemed to be some good prices in there, they had some weetabix look alikes for a quid and they taste and look exactly the same as the real ones so going to buy a few more. Also got some one portion size pots to make and freeze OH's porridge (someone suggested it on MSE) as I hate making the stuff so figured make one pot and freeze it would be a good idea.

Like the garlic idea, I buy it and it drys out before I use it again, so freezing it is a great idea.

Fuddle , you have the right idea to step back, you tried to help your friends in their folly but I fear it will come back and bite them on the bum. Im sure to get permission to go to Australia their finances will be checked as you have to be squeeky clean to emigrate there don't you?

  • mardatha, I read that you are going to costco soon. If possible, would you tell me if they have toys in for christmas please. I am trying to get presents sorted or I`ll leave it too long and then have sleepless nights.

Talk about sleeping, someone mentioned magnesium as a sleep aid so I have been taking it and now, a few weeks later, I am sleeping like a baby all through the night :)

Definitely colder here too, and I feel the cold much more than I used to, mainly because my knees get so cold - possibly because they are all made of metal now so the blood is circulating around cold metal. Bet the 6 million dollar man didn't have this problem.

They must be financially clean ginny because they have their visa's but they won't be the moment they fly off and leave the house. She's just told me there that they are going to enter into an IVA when they have the debt of the house so at least they are thinking seriously about it now. I don't know if you can enter into an IVA when you live abroad though. Anyway not for me to worry about.

Thanks for the baby lotion tip off. At 9p, it's worth a try on my hands.

MrsC good to see you, hope you're feeling a bit more chipper this afternoon - boom boom, geddit? Chipper (groan :rotfl: ) Seriously, I hope you're ok.
  • I got a book called "Thrifty Tips from the War Years". It's really interesting and explains why things were put on rations etc. It's not indepth and none of the tips are anything more that you'd read here.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Thrifty-Tips-From-The-Years/dp/0708865283 I don't think it's worth buying but would pass an hour or so if you could borrow it.

 When did that go up so much, I have it and paid £3 for it when it came out, must have been one of Am@zon specials, definitely not worth price

    Hugs to all xxxx

The baby lotion is fine for bodies but doesn't quite cut it on my rough dry hands.

It's still lovely and warm here during the day, I woke up chilly about 3am but the wind had picked up and the windows were open wide so not surprised (only have a very lightweight throw on the bed at the mo). I do love the evenings drawing in though.
