    I make scones like this:

    Pre-heat oven to 180C

    Put
1 cup of SR flour and
1/4 cup marg (I usually just cut a dollop from the tub)
    in a mixing bowl then

rub the marg into the flour, then add

1 tablespoon sugar and 2 handfulls of sultanas and mix well.

Add just enough milk to bind everything together then tip onto a lightly floured bench.

Don't overwork the mixture, just pat into a round, about 3/4'' to 1'' thick. Cut scones and place on baking tray. Brush with milk and sprinkle a little sugar on top.

    Bake for about 20 - 25 mins

As you can see, I'm not one for too much measuring, but it works for me :) HTH

I was prescribed diazepam for fear of flying. I used to wash it down with a gin and tonic  :D

Nowadays I just have the gin and tonic. I have probably said this before, but a couple of years ago I was frantically searching heathrow at 8 in the morning for a bar and OH very helpfully said "it's all in your mind", to which I replied
"no, sh** Sherlock - of course it's all in my ** cking mind"

he bought the gin and tonic :rotfl:

I remember flying half an hour to the Isle of man with my grandparents to stay with family, I was a teenager and was so bad that on the way home, my nan took me to one side and slipped me a brandy, then whilst she was in the loo, grandad slipped me a whisky - can honestly say I have no recollection of much after that!!:rotfl:

That's a very familiar scenario, except that we haven't flown for about 4 years now. He's even been on 2 Fear of Flying courses. Once we were getting a connecting flight from Penang to singapore and I swear I didn't think I was going to get him on the plane. He asked for a drink as soon as we got on and a steward came and tried to explain that flying was really safe.....in the end I had to intervene and shout just give him the drink! Or we'd never have got home. TBH, I think he'd be better now - still bad but better - as his panic attacks are mostly under control and he drinks far far less. Just as well as we have no money for alcohol now.
He didn't like diazepam as it was being out of control he hated and diazepam made him feel more so.

Possession I hate being out of control as well but my fear of flying is much more fundamental, I am terrified of falling!! If I could fly at about four feet high I would be fine.

My fear of the smear is huge, I hate pain, and its excrutiating for me, added to the loss of dignity, control and privacy and its my worst nightmare. All very stupid but in reality a major problem for me. Biggest wuss in town me.

Don't want to stray into medical territory but the diazepam is a muscle relaxant too, so hopefully you might not find it so excruciating.

Ah, a fellow hypochondriac;)! Just never go near the wrongdiagnosis website, it has pages of possible ailments for any one minor symptom.

Make them fuddle - scones are quick easy and cheap, plus they freeze well. You could use marg rather than butter to make them cheaper (Aldi do a baking block for under 40p I think).

Remember, if you butter them, do so before freezing & then they can
go straight from freezer to lunch box :-)

((Kidcat)) its not stupid, & you are having it done, & that's super brave! They are horrid, but worse to think about than actually have done, I find. Not that that really helps till after...

DS2 admitted to his super good big brother (yes, the same one 1 was grumbling about) that he's been bullied at school, that was why he was so worried about going back to school that we've had wet beds 3 nights in a row. It is still going on this school year too. Big hugs & reassurances that its not his fault, now got to wait till monday to talk to school.
  • I'm that scared of flying pills don't work. Enough to put down an old nag but has no effect on me until I get home and then sleep for England :D

Since my car accident I feel like that when other people drive me especially on the motorway.

Thanks for the comments on the school having to ring you when your child is not in registration.

Last term on no school uniform day he got to school and forgot his £1 so he walked out of class and came home for the money. Only by luck I was in as I usually walk the dogs at this time but was delayed by taking a parcel in for a neighbour. This was 9.15 (after registration) and would not have got back til half past but I suppose they would not ring until all the registers were back at reception.

The point being he can't go round doing as he likes at 10 years old. It is hard when they are step kids as you feel like your picking on them but if it were mine they would be grounded til they had grey hair :rotfl::rotfl:

Bought two second hand cat pens last weekend so trying to sort those out. One if for the fostering charity (they will pay me back) but one is out of our own money as it will be useful for so many reasons the main one being I can put my cats in it when I go away (not that often) and they I wouldn't have to worry about next door getting the moggies in at bedtime.

    Jumble today :j

  • Forgot to say I am also experimenting how many times I can add water to coffee dregs in the cafetiere, I love real coffee but it is so expensive so trying to make it go a little further :D

Has anyone tried A1di instant coffee someone said they loved it but they have a few kinds and I can't remember what was recommended.
