Hester, my ex said I was a husband beater...amongst other things. Dread to think what he'd come up with if he had to give me a character reference. I wonder how your ex thought it put him in a good light. Great judge's comment though.0

Its great the way the lurkers (I was one myself) are coming out to intro now everyone is doing it
Got the glass, now in place with no stress thanks to clever hubby. They have ready-cut panes in garden shed window size, so I'm not the only clumsy clod around!
Popped in to S$'burys  and see what you all mean about prices. I usually buy their b$sics tinned fruit, but not much choice today. Outlook a bit gloomy I'm afraid.
Fuddle I planted some Lambs lettuce and Baby Spinach on Saturday in window box planter. I will keep them outside until it gets realy cool. In the past I have grown them in the green house (its a little lean-to I can just about turn round in), but this time of year we get a lot of bugs eating and laying eggs on things in there, so I will try them outside for a bit and keep a close eye. Also the greenhouse is still full of cherry tomatoes which are refusing to ripen. I miss not having big tomatoes this year, as I would eat fried green tomatoes every day if I could.
Shepherds pie for tea, and will make an extra one to take on holiday. Going to do abit of pruning in the garden now while its still fine.0 -

Beetlemama, honestly I know nothing about the tax situation of prostitutes, although if I had to hazard a guess I'd say a lot of it goes undeclared!
Hester I was impressed with that judge too, she obviously got the measure of him well.
Feeling very icky so my dinner plans have gone out the window, I just can't face preparing chicken. DS can do jacket spuds bless him, so the children can have those and DH is at an interview tonight (just recruitment agent, not job) so will have to fend for himself when he gets back.0 -
Here's another vote for home, esecially in summer, come to think of it spring autumn and winter too. The blue rinse brigade round here are always talking about their cruises (how they were upgraded), and young folks in the family about the problems of queues in airports and upset tummies in hotels and head colds from aircon in planes, sunburn, losing documents......visiting the family dahn souf and planning the odd week in Scotland is good for us now.
Right old missogs aren't we?0 -
Blimey how do I do a short intro I can't help but waffle :rotfl:
will try then for those of you who don't know me
I'm 46 married to extremely patient and long suffering OH for 24 years (can't believe its our silver wedding next year!thats for old people lol)
Have 3 beautiful *if smelly* sons 21,17 and 13 youngest has autism but sure the others and dad are all aspies as is the nutty dog :DMiddle son has a variety of issues due to hypermobility and is currently *still* waiting for heart surgery but chugging along nicely for now.
I love baking, sewing, nagging OH,gardening and need to win the lottery NOW so I can buy a house that fits all my clutter..
Life here is 'organised chaos' but fun as everyday is different and there is NO planning anything as it always ends up going pearshaped :rotfl:0 -
Thanks PAH that was the one I'd wanted well spotted!
I'd be interested to know if it takes the weight of the dutch ovens ok as that was what I wanted to buy it for I know the proper tripod things may be sturdier but I'm sure this will probably do just as well and will hold the 'fire' too
Hopefully by end of week I should be able to answer that, as both are en route now by first class post so hoping here by Saturday latest.
I haven't bothered with the stand for the dutch oven as I have cast iron poles about 3ft long, inch thick, that are hooked at end, heaven knows where I collected them up from, had them donkeys years but have 3 and have leaned them together before to hold things so could use them if I have to, at the moment they are dotted around garden holding lanterns.Need to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch

Dread to think what my ex H would say about me - it certainly wouldn't get past the sweary filters! (Actually I know some of it as we have friends in common still and its far from complementary) But then again, although I try to be diplomatic I have been known to be a little less than complementary myself!
DD went for her first nursery session today (accompanied so her 1 to 1 can ask me lots of questions and learn how to best help DD) DS went up to the baby room and had a whale of a time. DD is shattered but happy - we're back again tomorrow but for longer, staying for lunch and some of the afternoon too. Spoken to OH this afternoon about DS maybe going for a half day a week while DD is there too, just to give me chance to whip round the house in peace if nothing else, as he had so much fun. Need to speak to nursery tomorrow and see if they have a place for him.0 -

it made me laugh when they said that they took skirts with elasticated waists and my neighbours went on a diet weeks before, just so they could eat 5 meals a day0 -
I have a bit of hopeful news. I have been asked to go into school on Thursday to chat about the dinner lady job I applied for.
Fingers crossed for me.
Another late-ish Intro post
I’m male, just short of 50, lurk more than I post and have been avoiding making GQ’s tea (which is a kindness, I make lousy tea). Live with Herself and our 14 year old moggie, been together just short of 12 years.
I’ve always been fairly old style, though increasingly its less of a choice and more of a necessity. I do the majority of the cooking, tend to batch cook/bake, my sewing is adequate rather than wonderful, (one of these days I’ll learn to use Herself’s machine).
Currently working part time due to health issues. (Yet another ME sufferer).I'm not pestering uncloaking lurkers to make the tea any more; I'm about to move onto chocolate soliciting activities.........you wuz warned.:)
Have come home from w*rk and found the shopping list which I wrote this morning and forgot to take. Which means that although I did go to the shops, I forgot the crucial stuff like milk and will have to go out again in a minute. Doh! If I had a brain I'd be dangerous. ME is such a fun illness, you end up going on an errand for 3 things and coming back without 2 of them.
All is well at the madhouse and nothing particularly bizarre came down my personal phone lines today. Can't wait for friend and neighbour SuperGran to touch base either today or tomorrow and fill me in with all her gossip.
I have also found a letter from Tax Credits in response to my appeal which says that I can't appeal their letter of (date) because it was a statement of account and these don't carry rights of appeal, insert blahdeblah reference to the relevent Act.
So that'll be why the letter of (date) telling me they'd ended my claim had a whole paragraph detailing my right to appeal and the adviser on the Helpline also said I could appeal, hmmm?
And they have closed their records accordingly. Yah-boo s.ucks and stick it in your pipe and smoke it. The second sentence was a complete fabrication but the sentiment was there.
Fine. They've corrected their original error and I count my blessings but I have slipped into a parallel universe of Kafka-esque rules. Good job that I am a) an admin-y type person and b) possessed of a sense of humour.
Horribly humid here and I have the sick headache which usually indicates an incoming storm. Urrgghhhhhh! Better finish my cuppa and head back out for the milk before the heavens open.
Have a good evening, peeps.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.
