rant alert!!
Why do boys smell so much and/or create such powerful smells?
In the front room i have one poorly boy recovering from exhaustion. His clothes stink of cigarettes, and as he has no wardrobe, his clothes are also used by his four cats for bedding purposes, and i suspect also they have the occasional wee on them. He lives in a one-bedroomed flat which i can't visit due to my cat allergy and strong dislike of cigarette smoke - i would literally not be able to breathe in there.
In the back room i have one large boy smelling of strong aftershave, eating some disgusting takeaway thing that has completely turned my stomach.
So i have retreated to my bedroom with my dogs. Both windows are open and all i can smell is fresh air.
I think i am getting too stuck in my ways to have another boy. They are just too messy and smelly for me. It's probably made worse because it is 'that time of the month' for me and this month i am suffering from nausea and smells make this much worse!
Apologies to any male lurkers, and to popperwell - but you gotta admit your average young male is somewhat lacking in the nasal self-perception area!!C.R.A.P.R.O.L.L.Z #7 member N.I splinter-group co-ordinaterI dont suffer from insanity....I enjoy every minute of it!!.:)

Kidcat - try health food shops for non-mint toothpastes. I use a fennel one, and I know they do kids ones in strawberry and cherry...0

In real life I'm 73 (possibly the oldest person on here - cue wrinklies coming out of the woodwork), like the little teapot, (short and stout), look like the bag lady's badly dressed sister and am an authority on every diet past and present. My house veers from clean and tidy on the suface to messy everywhere. My garden would just make you weep.
Happily divorced with 2 beloved adopted sons both in their 40s, 4 step grandchildren, One GD(16), one GS (10) who is autistic and gorgeous and one due at the end of September.
Live with a friend who is a Lady Vicar only in our church they are called Ministers, - think Vicar of Dibley. Thus I end up doing a lot of churchy things. Love cooking, knitting, writing (I edit the church magazine) and lolling about doing nothing in particular - fat chance of that ever happening.
In my previous life I was a teacher. So why am I not raking in a comfortable pension? I started my own small school for children who didn't like school. Wildly successful educationally, abysmal failure financially - I am no business woman. Hence total reliance on state pension.
My passion in life is the Drop-in centre we run for the homeless and anyone in any sort of need. Don't get me started, I can bore for Britain.
Thank you for listening.
Monnagran you're so cool!
We've got one granddad for our son but no nanny, if you ever want another grandchild give us a shout, we have a smart, charming and funny 9 year old on offer"There is no substitute for time."

Popperwell you might want to think about a water meter. My water bill been reduced considerably since I had one installed.

I forgot to say I'm nr Reading.
Re fostering, we may not make it through the approvals system, one thing they do is check with ex partners, during my divorce hearing the judge asked my ex why I'd worked 15 years in family business & never been paid, he told her I'd worked as a hooker!! Not sure how I'd managed to work 10 hour day in the business, run the home, cooked from scratch & bought up 4 kids! Plus I'm 5ft tall & 6ft round, hopefully he's mellowed now.

It seems like the perfect opportunity for me to de-lurk with all the new introductions. I’ve been around on MSE for a few years, and am always willing to take advantage of a bargain or two, and learn new things.
I think I’ve always been and OSer, and love nothing more than making food stretch, getting value for money, and finding ways to save the pennies, instead of spending them on food, bills etc. I menu plan weekly, now shop in Lidl and Aldi and very rarely go to the big supermarkets, unless there is an exceptional offer.
I have a few shelves in my OH workshop as my ‘mini store’, and I love nothing more than to see it stocked up. I have to sneak stuff in there as my OH says there is no more room, but I can always find a space to squirrel things away! I don’t have many friends that get the ‘OS’ thing, so it is great to read posts and meet like minded people that I can really related to.
I’ve been reading this thread since this new one started, and think that each one of you are inspirational in the challenges you face on a daily basis.
I’m a mum to 2 boys (13 and 9, so know all about smelly teenagers!), and work part time for a local cancer charity. I love my job, and I find it so rewarding to be able to help people going through treatment. We live about 15 miles from central London.
Married for 5 years, but together for 20, and most of the time we are a very happy family, although there are days when I think how great it would be to just have to look after myself! We have a cat who is 4 and as mad as a hatter, and on a really hot night loves nothing more than to sleep in the empty bath.
My OH sometimes thinks I am mad with the things I do, and today as I have been home alone I have been having a big tidy up, cleaning out the kitchen cupboards and got around to making a ‘power cut box’ which I think was mentioned on here a while ago – torches, candles/holders, tea lights, matches, batteries - so that is sitting in my cupboard just in case I ever need it.
I’m quite handy with a sewing machine, and love to make cards for every occasion. This year I have tried my hand at having a vegetable patch, and have managed to grow onions, and potatoes. The tomatoes and carrots haven’t been great, but I have a load of blackberries coming along nicely.
It is nice to meet you all, and look forward to posting a bit more on this thread.2016 is the year I am going to find time for me, and cherish the time I spend with my friends and family. It is also time to save - Aim £4,000 - So far this year - £230/£4,0000 -
