Re fostering, we may not make it through the approvals system, one thing they do is check with ex partners, during my divorce hearing the judge asked my ex why I'd worked 15 years in family business & never been paid, he told her I'd worked as a hooker!! Not sure how I'd managed to work 10 hour day in the business, run the home, cooked from scratch & bought up 4 kids! Plus I'm 5ft tall & 6ft round, hopefully he's mellowed now.

I'm not sure why he thought it was justification for not paying you for the day job anyway! At least if you had been you would have been paid... :cool:0 -
I'm actually cold in bed tonight, might be time to put my PJ's on and thermal socks(especially my feet)Winter has come early...might still be able to manage without the hot water bottle/electric blanket yet..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Wow you guys have been busy today on here, lots of fab ideas and interesting mini biographies, i love hearing about who and where you all are.
Im in my fiftiesdepressed smiley and live on a council estate not far from Smileyt, only her area is full of lovely community spirited people and mine is full of idiots. Im a goth which really annoys the neighbours and am tee-total, so I really dont fit in around here :rotfl:
I was a manager for several charities, running ( very successfully) many different shops till they got me working all over North west bringing ailing shops into profit. Then OH became more disabled and in and out of hospital and I never knew where I was going to be working. I had to use public transport so was often stuck miles from home. Made the timely decision to leave and care for OH 4 years ago and never looked back.
We have had some difficult times, DWP caused many problems including a breakdown of OH, his health is not good but we survive. I have been O/S for many years but just stepped up a gear when I 'retired'. I am a trained cook, and pretty good at all things crafty (sheer luck of genetics) I am often housebound with OH for days on end but rarely get bored, maybe sometimes a little stir crazyWe have a 2 year old DGS who is our bliss and he stays every weekend while Mummy works, hard work as it has been suggested by specialist that he is on the autism spectrum, but we do ok.
DS moved back home this year as he and his girly rented a lovely house which turned into a mouldy sieve 3 months into the contract. So I gave him my craft room and gained a tower of strength.
I love MSE and it has enriched my life and my bank balance and I have made some wonderful friends , several of whom saved my sanity a few weeks ago (off the boards that is). It is so good to find a place where people 'get me'Clearing the junk to travel light

We've got one granddad for our son but no nanny, if you ever want another grandchild give us a shout, we have a smart, charming and funny 9 year old on offer
WOW! I've been called many things in my time but until now 'cool' has never been one of them. Beetlemama I love you. I may print out your letter and frame it and very subtly bring my cynical children's attention to it.
Welcome new GS. Always room for one more. xI believe that friends are quiet angels

Morning all
Lashing it down here, very refreshing to have some cooler air and I was treated to 4 out of 6 cats coming to show just how soggy they were, at around 5.30am!
Lovely to read People's introductions, quite a good mix of age and locations which should mean a wealth of knowledge and experience to help us through the tough bits.
Didn't get my wine started yesterday due to a lack of brewing yeast, have ordered it alongside some citric acid etc also found some plastic demijohns for a great price ( with bungs and lids) so ordered a few to see if they're going to be something DH can lift, the glass ones are to much for him now.
I need some ideas on winter veg I can grow in large tubs/pots, it's a south facing garden so still get a decent amount of sun in the winter. I've never done winter veg so no idea where to start....any advice?"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Greenbee, Fuddle
The judge told him she'd report him for living off immoral earnings unless he withdrew his accusation, he threw his briefcase at his legal team & then tried to attack me in the car park. Happy days, lol.
Pooky, we have all year round lettuce, carrots & cabbage all designed to grow for winter.
