I love ratties. I caught up on posts this morning and read it as Kidcat has a ham with fleas, and my brain is seeing a large gammon steak with fleas which made me raise eyebrows a wee bit - and then it went onto Owl making Def Leppard fudge. I think I need more tea.

Oh LOL's we call Dan - Def Leppard too.... :rotfl:

I've been given a very large home-grown cucumber and there's only me that likes it. Any idea what I could do with it (no sniggering at the back please)!

Oh Mar you do make me laugh - which hurts!! :) We always referred to them as hams (except the cats who referred to them as breakfast and lunch) and I forget people dont have the same nicknames,:)

We always called them Hams too Kidcat!

We also have 'doggies without wheels' for Airdales - older contingents will remember the push-along toy doggies that did have wheels!

I hesitate to list the rest of the silly names we have for things, suffice to say I feel right at home on here!

Its just hit me that school starts again in 10 days and I have done nothing about it at all, am in limbo over boys as both have been recommended to not go back, but should I buy uniform or not?
DD6 needs school shoes and skirts which is not bad, but both boys would also need shoes, Ds14 school have a full new uniform so he would need a full set, and DS8 has outgrown all of his and again needs everything.

Will have to take DD6 for her shoes on Tuesday and pick up her skirts over weekend. But with the boys am really not sure what to do.

DD6 has a party today which I am not looking forward to, but at least she will get to see some of her school friends.

    Morning all

Weather is dire here, lots of sideways rain and 50mph gusts. We've not had rain for weeks so the garden will be pleased. The cats are loving it too, think its a competition to see who can get the wettest and race back to the comfy bean cushions first.

Lots of very bad family news here this week with two members not likely to last the weekend. As such it's a bit of an open house here for all those travelling to say their good byes....kettle is on and cakes in the tin. Both family members are 85+ and have been poorly for a while so it's not unexpected, still very upsetting.

Have friends coming for dinner and games night tonight which will cheer us up. Making pizza dough at the moment and will get the bases part baked, all the toppings will be prepped and everyone can then make their own at the table.

Was given some lovely, thick sheepskin style fabric earlier in the week and plan to make some extra covers for cat beds.

Phoned and cancelled sk* tv this morning now our contract is up, keeping the phone and internet with them as we have a good deal and have swapped to n*tflix for series and films, loving the amount of stuff on there and with quidco we actually made money from the first three months subscription.

I had a hamster go bald too, it was the shredded paper (it was old printed on computer paper and the hamster reacted to the ink)

It makes nice cooling juice, if you have a juicer. Peel it first

Just sat down at last!! yet another preserving session over with for now. Dug all my 11 big swedes yesterday and now drying as 3/8 " cubes. I did an estimate of my tomato crop and so far at least 40lbs, trouble is lots get ripe quickly and lots more to go, I bring indoors when orange as blight was a scary prospect and cover lightly with newspaper. Alicante and ferline, must grow less next year!!

`Fast` food meal on the hob now, lol casserole packet plus chicken plus dried mushrooms and dried onions. Rice in another pan with green beans plus courgette

Need to tidy garden shelves in garage this afternoon, got to make space somehow. Going to throw bottled water away from big plastic containers and store the containers elsewhere for wine making, I already have the grommets so they only need a hole in the lids

doh!!!! I think dh is being deliberately `thick` double doh!!! I just asked him to do a job and he is making out that he hasn`t a clue. I bet he thinks that I`ll do it rather than keep explaining.
