    Morning All!

    Sun is out !

Have a good trip Fuddle - OHs are both treasure and trial at times :D.

We were woken at 2 am by a big crash somewhere in the house - both got up but could find nothing. It sounded like something falling onto drinking glasses/china but no idea where . I could not get back to sleep so came down and watched Housewife 49 on YouTube. Went back to bed at 4.45 and was woken at 8.40 by the cat yowling - he didn't want anything, just us up!

I have to ice two fruit cakes this morning. I am catering for a diamond wedding celebration in a couple of weeks and also icing the cakes. Not done any royal icing for about thirty years - I hope it's like riding a bike!

Hope everyone has a good day - Not so hot, not so wet :rotfl:

  • Eeks fuddle meant to say have a safe trip and a great holiday. Been years since I was up on the West Coast, when we lived up there it was the East coast by the Black Isle but we used to travel over to Ullapool and surrounding areas.

    Hugs and Lovexxx

Fuddle might have lots of tales to put on her blog when she returns...

Very excited, my dehumidifier has arrived, that I bought with paypal funds after my clearout. Hopefully this will stop the mould in the spare room where all the washing dries. It's a reconditioned one so fingers crossed it works!
  • Mrs Chips was it inside the house or could it have been outside as about 6am here there were three tremendous crashing sounds one after the other, I couldn't decide at first if it was in the house, gun shots or thunder but then the heavens opened so guess it was thunder, but it didn't sound like the usual noise and the crash/bang noises came quickly after each other, very weird. I managed to doze again till 7am as only dozed all night since around 2am thanks to pain:mad:

Now its dry but overcast and there is a chilly feel around although not actually cold.

Someone on another thread said they knew of ration books being printed here last year, but firm was not told what country they were for but were printed in English. The firm only printed tens of thousands certainly not enough for the UK, but this was at a small printing firm so it they gave the same order to lots of small firms they could have enough. Speculation I know but gets me wondering.

Right got to get dressed, had a long hot shower which has oiled this auld body a bit as want to get some more teabags and mozerella to do HM Pizzas tonight - dough will be made in BM.

Oh yes does anyone know of any decent programme that lets you speak and your pc types - I have the one with windows 7 but it cannot get on with my scottish accent and drives me nuts getting the words wrong. So looking at maybe saving up a buying a decent one for times like now when typing hurts rather badly.

    Morning Everyone :)

fuddle I hope you have a wonderful time :) I used to have to go to school and top up my monsters sun block as well as DS2 is blond and burns easily. In the end his teachers just told me to put the sun block in his bag and they would deal with it. They had known me a few years by then and knew that I wouldn't complain about it.

It is grey and dark and wet in Leicester this morning. The weekend was incredibly hot and I'm glad it has cooled down. DH and I went shopping for my birthday present yesterday and got caught in a downpour. The humidity was so high afterwards that it was like breathing in soup. I didn't managed to find a jewelley box that fitted my requirements, but I did order a posh Birthday cake :D I'm having one of these http://www.patisserie-valerie.co.uk/p144_Cortina-Gateau.aspx I know it's expensive, but I'm tired of making great tasting cakes for everyone and then getting a Tesco one that tastes like the box it comes in. I doubt that the rest of the family will complain about having to eat it either.

The copy of The Hairy Biker's diet book I reserved has come into the library so I'm watching their Mississipi Adventure lol. Definitely no low fat recipes involved.

I was planning on doing lots of laundry today, but the weather has put pay to that. I think I'll have to tackle the Cupboard of DOOM!!! instead.

Wish me luck and send search parties in if I'm not back later xxxx

Going to take cat to the vets today. Either supermarket Frontline doesn't work as well as vets stuff or she's now got a flea allergy, as we Frontline'd her last week when we got back, but she's still furiously itching. Old cat had a flea allergy which made her life a misery. & the neighbours don't treat their cats for fleas at all...
    !

Supermarket frontline has one active ingredient, frontline from the vets has two - the extra one is perscrription only. Might be worth asking about the injection as it prevents the next generations of fleas from hatching. Good luck :)

Fuddle - if you have an old pair of jeans (or can grab a bargain pair at a CS) then google denim jeans apron and see the wonderful things a pair of jeans can create.

Thanks for that idea I looked at google images and found loads of ideas for all sorts of things.

At one earlier time in my life, my crew and I used to run a mobile children's play facility which worked the fairs. Standard kit was aftersun balm, sun block and loads bottled water to treat overboiled and dehydrated kiddies whose parents had them out for hours in full sun without hats, cream or adequate hydration.

I hate to see babies and toddlers in pushchairs with only those silly little umbrellas. They are next to no protection at all. I always used the long shades that covered the whole child and bought my dds these when they had their babies.

SDG we had a Patisserie Valerie 3 doors away from our office when I worked on Regent St, it was like torture walking past it every day from the station! Enjoy your special cake and have a lovely birthday.
  • Morning Toughies, cooler here this morning but only due to cloud cover, when it burns off it's predicted to be hot again.

BLUEBAG - Both DD1 and myself have had to run a service wash in respective washing machines recently because of the sour smell - think it's because we both tend to use the ecowash programme with eco cleaning products. Seems to have fixed it though and the book recommends leaving the dispenser tray and the door open when not in use.

SPIKY - We had a flea problem earlier on this year with the dog despite using Frontline regularly. I wonder if fleas are becoming slightly resistant as so many people use the same product? We now use Stronghold every other treatment and that seems to have sorted it out. The vet did say that this last year has been a particularly bad one regarding flea infestations though.

MRS C - We had a scrunch happen one night and couldn't find anything visible until I opened the glasses cupboard the next morning and found that a shelf had collapsed inside and everything was smashed, check inside cupboards too.

FUDDLE and CO - Have a lovely holiday and a relaxez vous if possible too - ENJOY!!!!!!!

    Cheers Lyn xxx.
