I very often go to supermarket and don't find anything YS
so when I do I grab it and freeze it.
I don't grab everything and don't block the area as some people do or harass the poor guy / girl wielding the pricing gun.
A bit disappointed DH does not grasp how well I have done but if dd comes up to stay for a couple of days and she can go back with a small lamb joint for £1.25, meatballs at 50 pence or white fish for £1,50 plus AF sauces, couscous , pasta etc then she will be impressed.
Strange thing is when I dragged dh to tkmaxx and he got a really good winter coat at a sixth of the price and a good jacket at a quarter of the price - he did appreciate that.
He does not appreciate how small amounts add up and how I like getting branded bread for£ 1 instead of £1.35 or more or butter for £1 instead of £1.50 or more etc.
You've reminded me that a neighbouring town has a TKMax and why did I not go into it when I was there last Wednesday?
I often see that and I have difficulty getting near the goods and the customers barely give the assistant chance to get the goods onto the shelf..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

hot here now so all blinds down and windows on south shut as outside is warmer than inside. Must remember to drink plenty of water
We're in Suffolk, so in the middle of the big orange bit. Errant Husband had DS2 out today, & when my poor baby came home at 9.20, he drank a whole glass of water straight down & said daddy hadn't had much water with him. I'd do an angry smily if I wasn't using my phone right now.
I sponged him down with tepid water before I put him to bed, & he seems ok right now, but who takes a child out in such hot weather & doesn't make sure they have enough to drink?0 -

For all you Pimms lovers, if you don't want to buy a bottle of Pimms or equivalent then you can make the drink from what you might already keep in stock. It's as easy as 1 2 3....
One part gin
Two parts red vermouth (e.g. Martini Rosso or Cinzano Rosso)
Three parts lemonade
Mix together then add ice, fruit, cucumber, mint or whatever floats your boat.
Ooh, mum & dad always used to get cinzano rosso in at Christmas, I used to feel so grown up when I got to have a dash of it in lemonade!I spoke to my lovely toothless and beanie hatted (seriously that's what he was like, great engineer tho') washing machine fixer.
He told me to stop washing at 30 and use powder not gels or liquids, use the highest spin speed available too. Use half the amount of powder and fabric soft recommended unless your water is really hard.
Worked for me, after I had cleaned the machine. The lower temperature wash causes a build up of fungus and the liquid detergents don't have a bleaching agent so the machine gets 'soured' with a mildew type thing.
Just lovely eh? so, sorry can't save the planet today.
I've not had a problem with washing the clothes at 30, I guess because the towels & sheets go on at 60? Or the soda crystals in the laundry gloop & vinegar instead of conditioner could have enough of an effect?Popperwell wrote: »I have no idea what it is and have never had it before but I bought some couscous and Quorn Cottage Pie and Quorn Chicken squares...I probably can portion it out and get a few meals out of it...
I only ever do couscous with hot water & it's always fine. I find quorn a bit bland, so it will need a good sauce with it.0 -

Morning All,
Well, I'll give it a go sometime soon. I'll either like them or say never again...suppose I could add a sauce to either and meat to the couscous.
Will have to think about this...
It doesn't look very promising weatherwise outside so may stay indoors and make myself have a good house work day...if I do any shopping I may just get hot water bottles, the kettle again and pay for the shoes I ordered."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. It has rained here overnight but it still feels hot. My parents are in Kent so expecting to be hot today. Not very nice for my Dad on his birthday as he gets bad asthma.
Today I'm swapping a leg of lamb for a tray of cokes, how very OS.0 -

At one earlier time in my life, my crew and I used to run a mobile children's play facility which worked the fairs. Standard kit was aftersun balm, sun block and loads bottled water to treat overboiled and dehydrated kiddies whose parents had them out for hours in full sun without hats, cream or adequate hydration.
I can still remember one wee girl, probably about 18 months old, whose father couldn't work out why she wouldn't stop crying in his arms. I could see quite clearly why; she had bare arms and bare legs burned red, no hat and was clearly suffering.
Once we got her in the shade, creamed those poor limbs, the tears stopped immediately. She also needed lots of water. Poor lamb. And don't even get me started on the parent who had a girlie of about 7, a pure copperhaired milkskinned redead out in full sun at 30 degrees in a haltertop dress.....
Muggy and hazy here today and I have carpenters outside sawing some wood up. Makes a change from uPVC window fitters, I suppose. Gotta go to work and do a few bits and bobs afterwards.
Have a good day, everyone. GQ xxEvery increased possession loads us with a new weariness.
