We did Lyn, 2 am opening kitchen cupboards and peering in (kitchen light has expired and not got round to fixing it:mad:) - nothing!

I know the sound - I used to have glasses on a shelf and something fell on them - it was just like that. Once many years ago we had an old flat and we were were woken up in the middle of the night by a whole double cupboard of china and glass falling off the kitchen wall - the weight was too much for the Victorian lath and plaster wall. Now that did make a noise!

Royal Icing - Riding a bike - not the same :rotfl:

Just what you needed at 2am, eh Mrs Chip? My parents have also had a double cupboard of glasses and plates fall off the wall, it chipped the worktop and cracked floor tiles too. Hope you discover what it was soon (unless you both dreamed it at the same time.....)
PS I practise royal icing in rows on a piece of greasepoof and scrape the icing back up into the bag.

I've just got 2 parcels from the US, should have been charged customs on both and I haven't been. Very odd. Handy too, as they are DD's christmas presents and she is out at holiday club so I can hide them. (Yes I know it's August.....) Plus they were therefore cheaper than I thought they would be, and all covered by Paypal money rather than 'real' money.
Can I just have a mini rant though.....grrrrr at all the companies/recruitment agents who don't get back to candidates after interview. Fair enough at application, but after someone has made the effort to go to interview they deserve a reply IMO whether it be negative or positive.

Just doing the flat icing at the mo Lyn, very tricky I think it's too humid the icing is getting wetter as I go.

Will be practising the piping later!

For me, Mrs C is the modern day Nella Last, so my t-shirt would say, "What would Mrs C do? "

Possession, I agree about the lack of contact when you've been to an interview; however, my technique is to call them so they have to tell me over the phone, I don't see why they should get away with it.

Gosh, look at some of these cookies - quite amazing!

    Fabby Cookies

Such a shame to eat them!

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Just read you post Byatt! That is very flattering, but if you knew me oh so wrong! I am such a ditherer and putter offer! Though I am short, apart from the girth I could be called 'Little Mrs C' like Nella was by the WRVS lady!

I hate to see babies and toddlers in pushchairs with only those silly little umbrellas. They are next to no protection at all. I always used the long shades that covered the whole child and bought my dds these when they had their babies.

I had a long one which had a UV filter liner under the broidraie (sp) anglais top
    My self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).
Eldest son has his own house with partner & her 2 children (11 & 10)
Youngest son & fiancé now have own house.
    So we’re empty nesters.
    Daughter married with 3 boys (12, 9 & 5).
My mother always served up leftovers we never knew what the original meal was. - Tracey Ulman

I'm sure Nella never thought for one minute she would be so famous, and from your posts in the past you could always rustle up a meal out of nothing, and you don't put off the stuff that has to be done, like the chip fryer!! :rotfl:

I think we are always harsh on ourselves, even when others think we are brilliant! I know I always look with envy at what other people are able to do - lovely houses, flowers arranged just right, fabulous food- mine never seem to measure up! Fair to say I don't take praise very well.

I was always the girl at school with inky fingers, messy hair and socks around my ankles - I so envied the girls who looked like they had stepped out of the pages of Jackie!
