popperwell what you are feeling is normal. Your Mum would be so proud of you. She will remember the home she loved and the people she loved, wherever she actually passed. And I'm sure she would be more than happy to know that you are eating well and that you have love and support, albeit from strangers :D

Bonnie, Thanks for that, I am sure that you are right, it is becoming easier(not that I don't think of her)still early days(end of April)most worries are wondering what the future holds(with changes our leaders are planning)but I try to live for the day.

I may not be able to watch much tv(no interest)but I am managing to listen to the music and radio programmes we both loved without getting too upset. I said elsewhere how strange life is, Mum liked David Jacobs' programme on Sunday nights, he took ill and disappeared, she wondered what was wrong with him and if he'd return. He has but Mum will never know and now I listen alone...I wondered if I could but I have...

    We'll manage...:)

Apart from eggs, their omega 3 intake won't be brilliant. .

I tend to use this recipe which weezl adapted, it contains veg oil i know unhealthy but if used in the right quantities it is healthy. Veg oil itself contains omega 3. Heres the link to it, oh and it tastes better than it looks. even my very fussy boys and OH eat this recipe.

and this spread is lush and contains omega 3

have a look at the recipes they are lots of vegan / vegetarian / meat recipes on the site.

The chocolate log is really nice and my family was very impressed it and my OH adores the cheesecake.

    All these great sites...

I'll soon be trying out the slow cooker, it will be trial and error, I'll keep checking it so I don't under or over do it.;)

Once I find out what's what I will then be able to leave it and just return when the meal is cooked. It's probably difficult to burn a chicken in a slow cooker.:p

    Afternoon everyone,

Well today has not started off well as of tomorrow I am unemployed:(
I only work part time, but the lady who owns the place where I work said she is finding it hard to go on. I do feel for her she has owned this place along time, and I do understand.
So the budget will need to be tighten so tight.
My OH is retired, so this afternoon, will be spent going over everything to see what we can cut. So wish me luck.

Big hugs Sunshine - I'm in the same position, and I know other folk here are too. Mine came out of the blue as well, it's a big shock, so please look after yourself xxx

Sunshine & Kitschy, I'm sorry to hear about your jobs :-(

Just really happy right now, my LL has agreed to me removing the prepayment meter and having a credit meter! :j:j Also offered the use of some wood for my wood burner.

    That will be much better!

I'm sticking to my meal plan so far (umm, since yesterday) & did quiche tonight with boiled potatoes, carrots & cabbage; had the bread ready to go in the oven when I took the quiche out. Did potato salad with the left over potatoes, so I've got that & quiche for tomorrow.

DS2 hadn't got up when I first called him this morning & then wet his bed, which I was cross about. Sheets in the rinsing water in the bath, I'll spin them in the morning & hopefully get on the line...

Pops, I've ordered the boxes, thank you :-) & a replacement washing line too... Washing line really irritates me. When the housing association did the houses, they put in rotary washing lines, but you have to stand on the grass to get to it unless you're very tall, so it damages frosty grass. One house I rented, they'd put the hole for the line in the middle of the patio, & it was so much easier getting to it. I know it's a minor thing to moan about, but it's the lack of enough thought.

They are quite good and anything that saves money...especially when it's practical but not actually a treat or a luxury. You can pay such a lot for a plastic box:eek:

I ended up buying ten! I probably could do with more but I'll try and make that do...but I think my store room is going to get larger after some things that were said in the news about milk being in short supply soon(some dispute over what dairy farmers are paid for their milk by supermarkets)the weather affecting cereal and vegetable crops...

I suspect inflation will be going up again...I'm a proper ray of sunshine aren't I? I understand exactly what you mean regarding your washing line...we've had somne fun over the years when council or Housing Association people have done repairs. Common sense seems to go out the window...

OOh a lovely new thread.:j I will try to pop in more often. :o

Trundling along here enjoying the summer holidays. Not an awful lot of sun here but not alot of rain either and the warm air is meaning lots of veggie growth which I am struggling a bit to keep up with.

Lots of foraging too and trying new recipes. Have so many elderflowers in the freezer that I am running out of ideas....

Listening with interest to the VitD debate. I think different doctors have different ideas about what is an optimum level. I was diagnosed with a level of <12 (apparently they can't be more accurate than that) and was told if I got it up to 50 I'd be fine. My problem is absorption rather than lack of exposure) Not sure I'd advocate supplementing kids' diets/plenty of fresh air (even on a dull day) and vitD rich foods should be enough. remember if you are taking a supplement, try to take some calcium too.

Anyway, I hope the sun comes out for you all soon and your Vitamin D levels soar. :D

    Take care everyone. xxx

.a shop assistant in Aldi's earns between £8,000-£9,000(That's on their own website)

I think Aldi pay £8-£9 per hour to store assistants which is a hefty enough wage these days. ;):)

There are lots of employers who are struggling too though. Many of whom will go without to ensure their employees are paid during a recession. ;)

I did post on previous threads but have become an infrequent visitor :o. Will try to keep up better with this one but real life is pretty busy at the minute. :)
