Welcome Lisakay... lurk no more :D

I like nothing better than lying on the sofa when DH is home (makes me feel safe) while the chatting of the TV is on. I slowly drift off and so relaxed.

Such sadness about coping with illness.

I scrolled up to look at your sig too... excellent!

Saw in Halfords today a wicker basket that clips onto a bike for shopping. When I can get my bike (it's looking like ebay) I'd like one of these for the 6 miler butchers trip.

Thanks SDG, but I don't even have a tesco card! I never shop there any more, because I find it much more expensive than my usual shops. I was at ald* last week by 9.15 to get their uniform offers, thinking they opened at 9am. They didn't, they opened at 8 and there was nothing, and i mean nothing, left. Apparently they had sold out by ten past eight!!
I also found out after school had closed for the summer, that I can now only buy the school sweatshirts from the school office. DD2 will be on hand-me-downs anyway, but DD1 needs the next size and they are now £3 more expensive than the uniform shop used to be. She will be on a plain navy cardi for the first few days, regardless of what the headteacher has to say about it!

giving out (((((hugs))))) to everyone, just because i can xxx

SDG - ((hugs)) that sound shocking, and so sad, the NHS has on the whole always been exceptional for us, but when you hear of stories like those you wonder if training has failed or if doctors are just losing heart in it.

The group was started and is run by the lady in question, it is her group and she is clear on that. She is funded in part by my local council to provide "short breaks" for carers of children with ASD and their siblings. She is not salaried just claiming expenses.
EIther way I am better off out of it, I havent officially resigned or anything, am just fading away quietly as are a couple of others, We will concentrate our efforts on a small support group we are setting up, which will be coffee one morning a week and chat, possibly some people to speak every now again, and then supporting each other in whatever way we can.

Fuddle - bike panniers may be easier to manage with, I am no expert at all but my friends ex was cycling expert (he ran a cycling company) and he always recommended panniers rather than a front basket. Not sure why, I assume its to do with weight distribution.

Lisa - welcome, I am sure there is a govt ruling that says schools cannot set up a uniform policy that has only one supplier. It may be worth contacting your LEA and reminding them :)

This is an article from the telegraph in 2009

Thanks for that kidcat x I'll be speaking to the governors when they go back to school now :) ,
and re; the nasty pastie woman and her nasty comments...not nice at all :( I got bullied in school for a short while (it was only short, because I broke my knuckle against the boys face:eek:) and she is definitely a bully. I personally would be making notes of all the incidents/witnesses and reporting it to the people that fund her and request a replacement!! It would be such a shame to lose the support that the other parents provide. on the upside though, those coffee mornings are a great idea xx

Have you been back to Aldi Lisakay? I just ask because I went today and there was uniform again in mine, not much but a little of everything, perhaps they have more stock?

Wow the diving was exciting, almost as much as when Mo won gold earlier. I must say I have been much more interested in these Olympics than I thought I would be.
Have made lots of money with ebay stuff finishing today - lots is the children's toys so they will get the money but made a bit myself and I am going to get two thermal curtains to do my bit to prepare for winter.

Fuddle which bit is broken? If its an arm losing a screw a paperclip works best :) If its the nose bar thingy then I use insulation tape - again it holds better. Can you tell how many times DS8 breaks his glasses? :)

Interesting to see that stashing and BOBs are becoming more talked about - are we preppers coming out of the closet at last? :D
I can't understand people feeling ashamed that they have to use food banks - it's the highups should feel ashamed as they are over charging for rent and not paying high enough wages- not the people who are struggling !!
TY monnagran for saying you didn't mourn for your mum - my dad had Alzheimers for 8 years and when he went I felt nothing but relief for him that he was free of it. I'm a Spiritualist and see death differently so I tend to keep quiet on how I feel about it, but I think my husband is a teeny bit shocked because I wasn't devastated at the funeral. In the car on the way I asked for a sign from my mum who passed 25 yrs ago - and a flock of beautiful white racing pigeons flew over just at the moment the coffin was lowered, and I couldn't help it, I smiled with delight, It must have looked bad! The sound of their wings was lovely, and he was the youngest of ten so I took it that the flock was mum and his family taking him away.
I'm having terrible probs with bread, its coming out small and uneven or dense and brick-like. That's with the Panasonic 255, I wonder if I should use it for dough only and then bake it in the oven, but that feels a wee bit of a faff. Anybody got any suggestions ?
We did have a pantry when we moved in but he knocked it out to give me a bigger kitchen. I don't really miss it as now the kitchen is bigger I have tons of cupboards plus a big airy spare bedroom that faces north and is cool.

When my boss died last year, we had a rainbow over work & all felt very much that it was connected to her being free from pain.

I'm using a recipe for bread at the moment that requires no kneading, just mixing up - will post quantities etc when we get home on Wednesday but it's pretty much Rose Elliot's bread from Cheap & Easy Vegetarian cookbook.
  • fuddle I am sorry I never wished little fuddle happy birthday, lost in my own world today. Glad you all had a great time and sorry about your glasses....I once managed to drop and stand on mine and they broke right over the nose so I thought nothing to lose so super glued them and they lasted me till I saved up for another pair......

I have at last got all my Approved Food order plus everything bought since ( 2/3 weeks)tidily away in storeroom..... definitely need more shelving in there as its not just food but bookcases of books and all emergency/camping gear plus winter bedding ( I keep meaning to buy vaccuum bags. Well at least I can see everything easily, get to the freezer in there ok and move around the room where as before it was boxes and bags everywhere.....I did take before and after photos but to ashamed to show them:o

Well at least I feel I have achieved something today. Just plenty of empty boxes for hubs to flatten - me I just crush them and put them in recycling bin but he likes then all neatly flattened before they go in so if that is what he wants then he can do it.

Kidcat I agree with others keep screenshots of what she has put just in case she decides to delete the posts and try and say you put up nasty things. She definitely sounds like someone who has got to be queen bee and you she felt were a danger to her, groups like hers you are better off without. The one you are setting up sounds much calmer and supportive.

Lisakay nice to see you come out of lurkdom

    Hugs and Love xxxx
