Mrs C I have to say I love your profile pic, is it the ED£ advert thingy?
Smiley, thank you, I've joined the online Alzheimer's Society and waiting for a call from them.
My coping mechanism is to sort things, so currently going through masses and masses of paperwork going back to the 70's, (sister's and mum's) so getting some kind of picture about the things I need to make sure are paid etc. Because I was never allowed to do anything when my dad and then mum died, it's bringing up a lot of emotions.
Kidcat, I was going to mention about renting a washing machine (or other things) if needed as a company called For£es rent out lots of things, they were a great help when ex left as I didn't have to worry about maintenance.
Fabulously hot here! Two days in a row!

for the record I have no problem with folks stocking up, planning ahead etc -I do that myself, particularly now as I have difficult times coming, but I do think that is totally different to someone stashing goods and money to make themselves eligible for benefits.
Comparing that to, for example, Mardatha stashing her money under the mattress is inaccurate - Mar has said she does this as mistrusts the banks, not so she can claim benefits by pretending she has no money.
I realise my post will possibly offend some, but I work with people who have no choice but to claim benefits, and for the majority of them life is not a game. If people treated the benefits system fairly then maybe we wouldn't have had to see the kind of hoops people have to jump through these days to provide their need.
Well now i've made myself thoroughly unpopular i'll get on with my day.
WCS
Not unpopular with me, totally understand and agree, I don't think anyone in all seriousness was saying anyone should stash and hide so they could claim benefits, more a like a brain storming exercise where people just threw in ideas and you know the mad ideas that come up in those:) which no-one every takes seriously, so now its over and we are back to normal.......but just want to say glad you have decided to stay

Where the 5 min bread recipe please Mrs C ? I need to try something else. I have Hovis granary flour and yeast now, will try them.
I used to love Round the Horne too, I think you can get it on radio 6 or 7 or something?
Radio 4 Extra...still sounds funny and sometimes better than what is popular today..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

Hi Byatt - yes it's Zingy, the Blu mascot. Not that I like EDF or anything, but he always makes me smile when the ad comes on. I notice there are a lot being made and sold on ebay, I might have to have a play with some Fimo clayThink big thoughts but relish small pleasures0

Thanks Mrs C - I have a huge pot of mint growing ( I bought a small tub on whoops ages ago and potted it into a big tub, ignored it ever since and noticed this morning its full and blooming. Do I just grab a handful in a pot and fill with hot water?
Byatt - the paperwork will quickly overwhelm you if you dont know your way through it, thankfully when grandad died I knew the ins and out and was able to sort fairly easily. I suggest you start with three piles, one of stuff that is years out of date and no use for shredding (Things like BT bills from 1968!!) another for stuff that is history (birth certicates, death certificates etc) and the last one for stuff that is current and needs action.
When you have your three piles, the historical stuff can be boxed up to be dealt with later. Shreddy pile can be got rid of, leaving only what is useful. You can then deal with that a little at a time.
DD17 is at hospital with my dad, she got an insect bite on Thursday which was swollen slightly (a little bigger than 10p coin) and red yesterday, we gave her antihistamines, doused it in bite spray, vinegar and special bite plasters. Today its at least four inches bigger much more swollen and looks angry. I suggested walk in but dad decided he preferred hospital - as he was taking her I wasnt in position to argue.0 -
Yes Kidcat, a big handful of stems into a teapot, pour over boiling water and brew for five mins. Very refreshing.
I first had this at a wonderful Georgian restaurant with rooms called Reeds in Faversham, a lovely place for a special treat if you are in funds. The smell of it filled the room and it will always remind me of a very happy weekend.Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0 -
Aw Kidcat hoping all is ok with your daughter, as if you don't have enough worries......and grrrrrr to the electrician, why arrange to come when they have no intention of doing so, seems to be happening a lot these days always seem to be hearing of people who had booked workmen who never turned up.

For future ref you can get wheat free 'soy' sauce http://www.healthysupplies.co.uk/soy-sauce-organic-tamari-sanchi.html?gclid=CPm7uKye37ECFVMdtAodpmsAYg
There's more than one on the market, but I'm pretty sure I've bought this in Mr T. Try your local health food shop otherwise. Think Meridian is the other brand...
Kate
Thanks Kate and also Mrs LW. They sound scrummy. That's the GF soy sauce I would normally get but neithe Mr T or Waitr*se had any last week. We had to pop into Mr T to buy a couple of bits this morning and they had more in so problem solved.0 -
Thanks Mrs C - will be trying that later (when I have found a teapot - I'm sure we own one, but I havent seen it since I have moved!!)
DD back and has an infection, so antibiotics and they have drawn a big circle around it, if it gets any bigger she has to go straight back. She looks so funny walking around in shorts with this huge black circle on her leg!!
Have finally got DS8 sandpit set up today and he is thrilled, constantly sitting burying his feet, still in long trousers as he wont wear shorts, he is so hot but still wont change.0
