MRS.C - I'd forgotten about Sing Something Simple - wasn't that with the Palm Court Orchestra and on at about 6 ot 7pm on a Sunday evening? - I always remember trying to catch up on homework I had to do and trying to get it done before Sunday night at the London Palladium came on the tele. Another thing I remember is The Good Old Days, the victorian music hall with Leonard Sachs, but I thing that may have been slightly later. Cheers Lyn xxx.0

Hi everyone kidcat read your post and I think if that is how you feel leaving) then you are doing the right thing. I find people who behave as that woman is doing unbelieveable. You sound a lovely woman and please just carry on doing what you do. The group will be poorer for you leaving. I have met some folk just like her sadly over the years, and it takes so much out of us we don't need nor want the nonsense. She has a problem for sure. I feel too as I have got older that I will choose my battles, so would do exactly what you are doing. Best wishes Margaret xDo a little kindness every day.;)0

Alot depends on how mature your children are as well.
My DS1 (17) last year went to London to watch an England football match with a group of friends, they stayed over in a travel lodge for 2 nights, and did a London weekend whilst there. This year he has already had a week in Crete with the same group of friends ( I did have to sign to say I allowed him to go) he paid for this completely from his part-time job (football referee for adult and junior games) and next weekend he is going to "V Fest" with another group of friends, they are camping over going up on the train etc.
DS2 (14) isn't doing quite the same, but will do once he gets to 16/17. He is always out on his bike with his friends cycling to the next village etc.
Where we live isn't in a town or city but there are still lots of people and traffic about.
We have always let the boys play out starting with DS1 when he was 5 on the grass at the side of our house with me having the back door open so I could hear, then once DS2 was the same age both of them out there; it has probably helped that there have always been a group of lads who "knock around" together of differing ages (eldest 21 to youngest DS2 (14)).
Fuddle, I would say you are doing a fantastic job with your DDs as they weren't interested in "having a look" they knew where they should stay.My self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).
Eldest son has his own house with partner & her 2 children (11 & 10)
Youngest son & fiancé now have own house.
So we’re empty nesters.
Daughter married with 3 boys (12, 9 & 5).

I once many years ago had a lovely neighbour from Casablanca, and she used to make tea in a real magic carpet/Aladdins Lamp kind of silver teapot, then throw in a handful of mint and it was so odd to see green stems poking out of this elegant silver spout!0

Don't forget, now you can make bread at the drop of a hat ( and the 5 min bread recipe can be made and kept in the fridge for up to two weeks, if you have room make double and do that) that is is more storage-efficient to store the flour rather than the made bread - you only need a little for emergencies in the freezer as you can make it when you like!
Enjoy the pizza!
Yes, when you think about it like that, you're completely right. I'm a bit worried about my panicky feelings creeping in actually. The feeling of I must have it, I must have lots in case the food issues get worse than expected... actually, do any of us know just how difficult the food supply issue is going to get?
A lovely, lovely day at pizza hut for DD's b'day. I have also been in the range for the first time. WOW! I do like that place. I managed to get a wire chicken for my eggsI'm chuffed with it.

I'm just getting stuff that will keep, before it goes up in price, and because sometimes I'm not well and sometimes in winter the weather is hellish.0

mama67 I hope my kids are as responsible as yours one day. At 8 and 6 they are ok on their own but very easily led, especially my son.

I understand what you mean Fuddle about panicy needing to buy feelings. In my head I have to keep the 'Will you use it' alarm bell at the ready. It's all very well if I find a bargain, but not much use if it sits in the cupboard for the new few years!
I bought some bread mix from A**roved F**ds about four months ago and it is unused.:( A mixture of sore hands and bone idleness! However, having seen your bread in the Halogen oven I am inspired to make some.:)

Someone gave a talk last night about bug out bags and said we should keep enough water in each bag for 3-5 days. I sat there shaking my head. People have no idea how much water they actually need for that length of time. I intend finding the money for those filtered drinking bottles you posted the link for.
On the note about water, I remember a very useful peice of advice.
If you think the water supply is going off for a while, fill the bath and cover it with a polythene sheet or a few binbags taped together to make one. The water can be used for cooking and washing up, personal hygeine and then waste saved for flushing the loo.0 -
Taken me ages to post this - having dramas with group again, leader/chairperson has left at best sarcastic messages on my facebook post, .
