Still waiting for the Richard Mabey foraging book from the library. I've been on the waiting list for a month now. It must be a popular book.

I've now reserved Hannah Hauxwell: The Complete Story. So looking forward to reading it. The DVD is £6.97 on Amazon. It's on my wishlist.

I didn't know there was a Hannah Hauxwell DVD!! On my wishlist too!

Just ordered a few things from there recently - wish I had heard about the DVD sooner. Just watching Tales from the Green Valley. I love things like that! Frontier and prairie life fascinate me - something about the wildness and simplicity.

Tempted by foraging but worried about poisoning myself!! :rotfl:

Hello all newbies! And oldies kitty! (old to the tough threads I mean!! lol)

Just in from work, quite a quiet night. The weather is having a big effect on bookings at the camp, no surprise there. But it has been dry here today with some sun and a lovely evening.

Why this weather? Well it's my old mate the Jet Stream (I bang on about it at every opportunity :rotfl:) and possibly for coming weather El Nino.

This article sums it up really.

And there are signs that we are moving into an El Nino period. El Nino and La Nina are ways to describe what is going on with the sea temps in the southern oceans - only interesting to weather nerds like me :D but if we have a period of El Nino we wont get the hurricanes we need to shift the jet stream back where it needs to be. If we are moving into an El Nino we can expect extremes of weather, colder winters, hotter (not necessarily drier) summers.

I have watched jet stream forecasts for years as I find them to be the best for indicating what our weather is going to do.
Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures

Perhaps I'll risk using the oven again...an odd time will be ok...I could bake a loaf perhaps when cooking a chicken...do a few things at once.

Thank you for the jet stream stuck explanation. I've heard of El Nino before. I guess it's not a good thing to go into El Nino. It feels like everything is going wrong. :(

Link to hypothermia temp, probably can get cheaper or from local chemist. I have something that was supplied by my energy company, just a simple card. I might get one of these for the bedroom though.
