Good morning all
Brr.... It's cold in the office this morning.
The heavy rain hit us yesterday afternoon and stayed until the wee small hours (at one point, I woke up to hear it pounding on the window and then I heard DH putting the bin out for collection - not sure which one woke me). We only had one brave band of trick-or-treaters and I retreated to the kitchen, leaving DH to deal with them. (I was not in the mood.)
My car aquaplaned on the motorway on the way home last night. I was only doing 50 MPH. Fortunately, there were no idiots right up behind me at the time, since I went into "don't touch anything" mode until I felt traction again. (Even let go of the steering wheel, in case I did something that put the car into a spin.) It was the weirdest feeling.
What is this book "The Great Depression" that everyone's talking about? A quick search of Amazon came up with several possible titles.
I haven't seen the foodbank program but am now dying to watch it. You've whetted my curiosity.
GQ. Don't worry about your hat. One of the girls in my choir wears a furry, Tigger hat. In the shop at Stonehenge last week, I saw knitted, sheep-shaped ones.
Stiltwalker - good luck on Friday. I hope you have a lovely day, blessed with sunshine. Also that every minute of your day is enjoyable and memorable for all the right reasons.
Monnagran You're real name suits you very well. You are a Joy!
Everyone stay safe and have a good day.

I'm miffed and need to rant over this article.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2225987/Angela-Epsteins-furious-attack-Government-My-family-losing-child-benefit-just-earning-100k.html
Hubby and I pay taxes and since '08 our income is 1/3 of what it was and longer comfortable, and I fail to see why, when we're struggling to make ends meet to avoid any debt, this woman should have any of our taxes to allow her to continue to get child benefit when their income is £100k per year
She doesn't go to the SM at known YS time to get meat she otherwise couldn't afford, nor does she have to buy her clothes in CS, primark or jumble sales, doesn't need to think 'can I afford to buy fleeces to keep the drafts out this month, or do I need to wait 'till next month?. She doesn't have to make do and mend, she want's the money rather than needs it.
Maybe taxes could be increased so we pay more so there's enough left to pay her too.
My hubby works bl**dy hard to earn just above NMW now and I don't see why she should get any of it.
If her children lose out because CB is withdrawn from her then she needs budgeting lessons and should join MSE.
Rant over, going to have a cuppa and calm down.
They pay their taxes too. Typical Daily Mail fodder:(
Also it sets a precedent - universal benefits such as the Old Age Pension will surely be next and means tested just like the Child Benefit !I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0
