I've cooked two FB pies at once, eaten half of one and reserved the other half for tomorrow, and the other was cooled, wrapped in clingfilm and frozen. I do this because they take 25-30 mins at Gas 8 and that's a lot of juice. I put them in the bain marie part of my stainless steel stacking saucepan and they heat through beautifully. Gotta pinch those pennies.

Did you see my post about The Fray Bentos Chicken pies in Tesco's for £1 and ok date wise until May 2014? I was put off because of the use of an oven but if I follow your lead, they may worth having a couple in my food store.:)

    Just said on my blog...
I had to go out this evening but where do you go especially late in the evening? Especially after 8.30pm and when bus service is poor and most places involve spending money...you guessed it, the supermarket which is only a couple of streets away.

It filled an hour or so and again I found some items that were reduced. I found a variety of fresh fruit, vegetables and a loaf of bread. What were they worth? £11.07 and I spent £1. Or you can look at it another way. The bread was not out of date and was worth £1.40 so for less than the price of the bread I got all that extra stuff.

These past few nights I have seen someone that I know by sight and he has been doing this for over ten years, probably longer. He walks around the town centre(he's not homeless)he has worn the same coat and flat cap in all that time and has a plastic carrier bag. What does he do?

He goes through litter bins, bins where people stub out their cigarettes and looks over the footpaths for...cigarette dumps. Every day...

    All life is here!
Well done Possession:TYou know there has been no Halloween Trick or Treaters here at all. Don't know if that was because the weather was horrible or there are no children around here and probably there is the safety aspect these days when knocking at doors...

Have skimmed as we are only just back from Blackpool, two boys had two major meltdowns and then just as I had calmed them OH had one too!!! Am strangely serene about it though - may be the painkillers I took for my migraine earlier:rotfl::rotfl:

Car all fixed:j:j and booked for last job to be done next week

Lyn am so pleased your daughter is on her way back you must be so relieved. One of DS14 teachers is stuck out there after having a quick half term break with her kids, apparently she is unlikely to be back until next week

Blackpool lights this year were really good, I am not a fan (we only go as OH really likes them) but this year they were worth a visit - just dont stop to by the light up gizmos for the kids!!! £5.99 each :eek:

Our new group begins tomorrow and the reality has hit, its looking like a good number may turn up :eek: and am very nervous about the whole thing:D

    Thanks Byatt :)

DD18 in doldrums as she put her Uni application in two weeks ago and hasnt received any offers, whereas others she know have. I have tried to point out that none have had any for the course she wants but she is really panicking. It doesnt help that my mum told her she would be fine - after all your mother got offers at all hers and they were all for really low grades as they wanted her so much! No pressure on her there mum ey:rotfl:

This is one of those parent firsts as shes the oldest its my first time dealing with this and am probably being really rubbish, next time I will have got the knack and be so much better (I hope!) :D

Possession - which way did your OH decide, am living vicariously again and have been wondering all day:D

Mardatha - happy celtic day (cant spell the proper word)

    Happy Samhain to all.

Possession....congratulations on your survival....we had my son and his 2 little dogs here all evening as his wife was hosting a party for, according to him, half the child population of Ireland!

Parted with €910 yesterday for 1000 litres of oil, so will be keeping purse firmly closed for as long as possible...it had better do the winter!

Hi everyone, have got a shift from hell. Soon to be over when i leave in 3 weeks tho. Have to open up the shop this morning, so the first gamblers should be throught the door by 8am. Its always the same ones tho.
Oh claims to have mended the tumble dryer, we will see. Not sure but when empty it works ok, but with a few towels in it seems to stop. I think the belt is slipping, so might need replacing at sometime. Cant afford a new one. Had the winter check done on the car yesterday, seems I will need 4 new tyres in the next few weeks. Eldest DD fiance works there, so we should be getting some discount. Still looking at around £120 for the set tho.

Only got 1 trick n treater, definatly down on previous years, we used to get loads. Seems everyone is staying inside from the wind and rain.

Have a good day everyone, will try and catch up lateron.

Kidcat he hasn't decided yet, the madness continues. The original 3 month contract has now turned into a permanent role, much much better job and more money. But certain key people he needs to meet are on holiday with it being half term, so it is taking a little while. Meanwhile the other 12 month contract is still faffing about very slowly doing HR stuff. DH hates it all, he doesn't do deception it just isn't him at all, so I'm afraid he isn't enjoying any satisfaction that he is rather in demand at the moment.

:) Morning all and Happy New Year for those following the trad Celtic calendar. We've survived the Day of the Dead with the veil between the worlds at it's thinnest, and hopefully our hearthfires (OK, kettles will do) have been re-kindled.

My [STRIKE]gas stove [/STRIKE]sacred hearthfire is working (cheers, utility company) so I have a cuppa at my elbow and all is good.

Pops I did read you post about the FB pies but they're widely-available at £1 all over the place; £land, 99P Store, Lidly (sometimes) and are back down to £1 in Iceland so I'm well stocked with dates into 2014. Have decided to eat the stash down a wee bit before pie-ing up again.

It's raining here. Quelle surprise. Yesterday I succumbed to a temptation and purchased a silly hat. I'd restrained myself last year but it was too much; I now have one of those with the fake fur linings and the long earflaps which come down on either side of your face. Bring on the blizzards.

:D I wore it home. No one battled an eyelid. I am middle-aged and partially-invisible and can do what the hell I like- go me! Mind you, after wearing a large artificial spider on my head in an office full of witches and zombies it seemed rather tame.

OK, going to rustle up some breakfast. Eggs will be involved as it'll be a long haul to the next meal and woman can't live on leftover Halloween cakes alone.
