Fuddle, hope your little girl is starting to feel better. Can you take her back to bed with you and both of you have a cuddly snooze?

7WW glad your cat is back. I bet he's glad to be home as well!

Really must crack on with some housework ......

Thank you for all the birthday wishes. xxx

Fuddle - dont forget flat cola for your DD it does help somehow.

Off out for a little now, am gutted at decimation of my baking cupboard - whilst it looks neat it also looks empty, not a sight I enjoy. OH says I can go replace some items but its not the same, I had spent ages building up the store. Onwards and upwards :)

Oh Happy Birthday to you all
Getting rather windy here, started off very muggy and foggy so not sure what the weather has up its sleeve for us.
Discovered last night the DH has not chased with HMRC as he should have re washing work clothes allowance and so he lost a years worth of money (dumbo was the word I needed to say then!). Bearing in mind I wrote the letter and all he did was sign it and I posted it I don't think it was so much to ask for him to call up - pretty sure I can't pass myself off as a boy!
the confirmation of mortgage payments change arrived yesterday, we now have to find another £88 a month - oh deep joy. I will officially have no money in November, and I know I will have to raid the savings pot just to break even with bills, so another month of bum squeaking angst.
I was hoping to be able to get some income protection insurance but that idea is out the window!

Happy Birthday SmileyT and Mrs Chip!

Happy Birthday SmileyT and Mrs Chip - have a wonderful day :)

I have woken up in panic mode, DD had driving lesson booked for 9.30 and for some reason didnt set her alarm, littlies decided to stay in rooms watching DVDs so I slept, next thing DD flies in shouting about her instructor being here - not a good way to wake, :)

DD6 hand isnt looking as bad as I had expected which is good.

We are off to a farm as soon as we can escape but I found weevils in the baking cupboard this morning so first job is clearing that out and binning all things infected. Then it will be a trip to Ikea in morning for more glass jars - the plastic ones all got infected.

Forgot to mention that I was shopping on Tues and realised that Mr A has changed their whoopsie times, seems they are reducing at four rather than six.:D

Re the weevils, make sure the container is air-tight and, preferably, water-tight. That way, nothing can get in. You know those plastic bottles of rice that the supermarkets sell? The 5kg ones? Well they might be screw-top but they aren't really sealed. We had to through out 3kg of rice when one of those got infested. My dry goods are all in Lock-n-lock boxes now.

Its another grey dark day here in lincolnshire. Had to take DD to the bus stop on the main road at the top of the village, a good 5 min walk. Due to the mist I took the car... I know naughty. Have put on some washing and have put sausages in slow cooker with veg and gravy for DD and OH tea. Have work this afternoon, hope theres no arguments with disgruntled gamblers.

Have looked again at mr s and mr t to see if there are any jobs going. Desperatley need to escape, thing this what makes my IBS bad. Had 2 days off work all good and today its back with a vengance. OH wants me to quit but its not that easy. I have tomorrow off and then have to work all weekend again, why cant the other staff do there share?? Thats my other bug bear, the crap shifts arent shared fairly.

Fellow IBS sufferer here. Can you have a hot drink while you work? If so, have you tried sipping peppermint tea? (Put the teabag in a mug, pour on boiling water and leave until cold enough to drink or at least 10 minutes.) Peppermint is an anticholinergic and relaxes the bowel cramps. Peppermint oil capsules are now one of the main treatments for IBS and you can buy them over the counter (Colpermine, I think is the brand name).

Everyone has a different trigger for IBS. Took me years to work out mine: fatty, greasy food mainly with a side-order of undercooked egg whites. I'm lucky, though, if you can call it that - I only get cramps (bloating and pain). On one occasion, I ended up in the Casualty department of my own hospital. Knew every member of staff on duty except for the doctor who treated me.

    HTH.

    .

Anyone got any good recommendations for easy Halloween cakes? We're having a charity bake-off to raise money on Halloween, and whilst I'm fine at the actual cake making I am very lacking when it comes to the artistic decorating bit!

    Have a good day everyone.

Bake your normal cake and cover in green or orange icing (the brighter the better) whilst its still sticky pipe circles of black (or any dark colour) or icing starting with a small one in the middle then a bigger one round that etc. Take a cocktail stick and whilst the icing is still wet from the centre draw the cocktail stick out, turn the cake and do the opposite side, then make the lines like quarters and then a line dividing the quarters. The drawn icing will pull the dark stuff into the green/orange icing and it'll look like spiders webs. I hope I've explained that well enough.
CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J

    Oh, bother! (on both counts)

Re HMRC, did you keep a record of when the letter was sent, etc? If he phones up, he might still be able to get the claim actioned. Tax inspectors used to have some wriggle room. Don't know if that still holds true, though. It may also be that they have the letter but it hasn't been processed yet.

This hired dehumidifier is industrial strength. It's working fantastically but is costing 20 per hour to run.

DD had 5 pieces of plain pasta :D We did exactly that smiley, we went back to bed:)

Good idea re the letter PipneyJane of course I kept a copy, but the sad thing is I *may* have asked DH to file it with his HMRC stuff. Off to remind him to look for this.
