    HAPPY BIRTHDAY MRS CHIP! :bdaycake:

All the best people are born on 25th October, you know ;). Have a lovely day.

I have friends coming to stay. They rang last night at 9pm. Of course I said yes, but the house is a tip so am spending this morning cleaning ..... looking forward to seeing them. I haven't seen my godson for nearly a year and he's 14 now and the word is that he has grown like a string bean :D.

Fuddle - try teeny tiny sips, even a teaspoon at a time will be enough to hydrate for now. It is awful when the children are ill and you have to take time off. My job is reasonably flexible in, that if i am not actually teaching, then it doesn't matter if i'm not there at times as i can do marking or prep from here. Even with teenagers I don't like to leave them if they are ill.

I actually have something to do today :T I have 2 groups of students to see. It is awful not really having any work. Remind me of this when I start complaining that i'm busy! Next flight to Korea is booked for 3 weeks time so I am filling in time at work by doing prep for that. It will all help my paid work in the future so they aren't losing out too much.

I have both children off tomorrow (last day of HT for DD and DS has inset day before his half term next week) and the MIL coming to stay  She must think I don't like her as every time she comes I go away :D Going to a school reunion on Saturday - don't know what to wear :p I was in a fairly early cohort for the school so will be among the oldest there - perhaps a quick round of botox might be in order :rotfl:

I wish this gloomy grey weather would bog off - it would be nice to see some sunshine, I actually think I would put up with it being a bit colder if it could be a bit brighter and I don't usually opt for colder.

I know what you mean about the clocks GQ, especially the "fall back" version, it does put you out for a while. In a way though I feel that it gives me permission to hibernate. COme home from work in the dark, change straight into my jammies and a big jumper and that's me set in. Coming home in even a half light and I can't go straight into jammies - dunno why! My problem is that several nights a week we have to be mum or dads taxi and so have to be out at various times - although the latest is 9 o'clock so hardly the witching hour.

My gloom does seem to have lifted a bit - my mourning for the loss of summer has moved into "aceptance" I think :o Cheapskate, we too have booked a winter holiday as we haven't actually had a family holiday as such this year. We are off to Tenerife on Boxing Day for a week. It also means we miss New Year. I hate New Year - all that "Happy New Year" and you wake up and everything is the bl00dy same :rotfl: and you still have to get through January and February - Bah Humbug! :p

Ah well at this rate I'll be going to work in my Jammys.

Happy Birthday Smiley oh and Mrs Chip.

Oh wow is it wee smiley's birthday ?? Ooooooo!
Cheapskate I sympathise and empathise pet! I think this summer (hahaha) will make more than a few of us seriously dire this winter. Important to take multivits as well though- as vitD on its own isn't a miracle pick-me-up and these things take time to work.
I have such a need to get away up north to the mountains that it hurts. But the RV wouldn't go when the weather was good, kept saying wait until later, and of course later never came :(
Ta GQ if you could just shove that nice weather over a wee bit for me? ;)
Have a big dollop of mince defrosted and am determined to make it into about 6 dinners. At least. :D What usually happens is that I cant be a$$ed and it turns into 2.
I really envy all of you who get to shops for whoopsies, that only happened to me once.

  • Happy Birthday Mrs Chip and Smileyt - may you both have a perfect day with a lovely slice of birthday cake.

Mardatha - looks like we might get a good day's weather tomorrow, cold but sunny. Then it is back to normal, damp and cold - oh well.

Kidcat I have started getting a few things for Christmas. I just keep them in a cardboard box in the spare room (which is fine until we get visitors - like this weekend, I'll have to tuck them away in the back of the lounge). But to be honest I need to get myself a bit more organised with Christmas stuff.

Got up ten minutes early today so I could make a fuss of boy cat. He snuggled up for a few minutes, then wolfed his breakfast and demanded to be let outside to patrol his domain! So it looks like he has emerged far less traumatised than we are.

Anyone got any good recommendations for easy Halloween cakes? We're having a charity bake-off to raise money on Halloween, and whilst I'm fine at the actual cake making I am very lacking when it comes to the artistic decorating bit!

    Have a good day everyone.

LOL, Happy birthday both of you!!
Fuddle if you have to resort to Dioralyte make sure you make it up and refrigerate it, it's disgusting otherwise.
7WW I heartily apologise for mentioning Pinterest again on here but there's lots of halloween cakes here:
