  • Education at £0! Sounds like a great idea!

I did 2 CIM Marketing courses after I left Uni and I really enjoyed the challenge of studying and getting a professional qualification - it was made much eaier by the fact that my boss paid for the first one and my mum paid for the second one.

    You go girl!

Don't be too disheartened on the weight loss - the way I see it is it is Winter and its harder to loose weight - it will all come right - stick at it.

  • Keep up the healthy eating and exercising, it pays dividends, I read somewhere it is 80% diet and 20% exercise.

Well done continuing with the course, my foundation degree is almost over - 2 more assignments and a project to finish, and I can't wait. I'm sort of glad work won't fund the more advanced courses!

Thanks guys, i will keep it up...just sometimes wish I could snap my fingers and be the weight I wanted...although probably wouldn't appreciate it then!!

I suppose I shouldn't moan too much...I don't have as much to loose as some people.

Right...MFW update, BF's payment into savings account this morning of £84 so will update signature shortly. :T:T

I received an unexpected cheque in the post when i got home last night - £70 refund from the solicitor who dealt with the purchase of the flat....saying monies left on the account. Not entirely sure where this is from as I was sure i had worked everything out to the penny but hey ho not going to grumble!! Will pay in tomorrow and shift over to savings account as soon as it clears (probably the back end of next week) - £70 I was not expecting :j:j

Spoken to the solicitor about the claim I have settled at £1600, should receive the cheque by the end of march at the latest.

Some shopping needed this weekend - probably around £30 as we have to get a card and present as well as something nice to cook on Thursday night:heart::heart::heart:

    Hope all are well xx

  • Morning all...why oh why do the weekends go soo quickly??!! :(:(

Not very well here....cant seem to shake off this coldy / fluey type symptoms since xmas really and it has flared up again so didn't have much sleep and feel like _pale__pale_

Loads of work to do today and this week .... off on Thursday as back to uni and need to go in in the morning to enroll etc.

Weekend was good...food shopping at both Aldi and Morrisons...about £35 in total but included in that was a couple of portions of meat and fish for later in the month (whoopsied / special offer). Will sort exact figures and update signature.

Meals are planned up until the end of this week so need to spend some time planning the last two weeks worth of meals making sure i utilise all the food we have in the freezer.

I made a big cheese and brocilli pasta bake which i portioned up and froze for emergency lunches for the bf (ie when I haven't bothered to make him anything fresh!!)

Some spends from my spending money for breakfast out on Saturday morning, a drink at the pub last night (residents meeting) and some cold & flu medication:mad:.

I paid in the £70 cheque from solicitors and waiting for that to clear. I will be using that to pay the outstanding balance of the holiday cottage we have booked for May.

Not too much else to report really...not that exciting my life!!

Hope everyone else had a wilder weekend than me:beer::beer:!!xx

Just updated shopping signature with food shopping spends from the weekend, then went to asda last night and ended up taking the bf with me which made the shopping cost £28 and I have just been to the butchers and spend £18.50 on meat to take us up to the end of the month.

So we have just over £40 remaining on the budget. I have to say I think we are going to go over. I have meal planned for the remaining two weeks of the month and am really trying to use up everything we have in the cupboards. Will do the rounds between Aldi, Morrisons and Asda to see if there are any savings that can be made.

Wont be too good if I fail on the shopping budget in the first month

  • Really enjoying reading this. We've just moved in to our house which for us could be a place we can stay in forever.

Like you we're both in our young 20's and keen to clear the mortgage asap!!

Thank you spenceeyftb and good luck in your mfw ambitions...do you have a diary?? Lucky you already being in your forever home!

Bit of an update on the food shopping situation - I have just done an order online for Asda, have done click and collect as even the £3 for delivery is going to push me too far. I have gone for pretty much smart price everyting and managed to match roughly aldi's prices. I have littereally ordered everythign from here so I do not need to set foot in Aldi!!

Came to £32 which leaves approx £10 for any top up bits - shouldnt need any for meals but things like fruit and milk etc :eek:

The next two weeks should be interesting!!

Bf's money paid in today on SO so that has taken my savings up again...think that is best part of the 1k increase I was hoping for in Feb but will have to check back through diary to confirm figures.

Bit of a spendy weekend coming up....out for breakfast and lunch tomorrow :eek:

Had to add a few extra items on to the Asda order so that has increased to around £37. We will definitely go over the £200 target but will keep purse strings tight to try to reduce quite how much we go over.

I think I could make more savings and have a better idea of budget if we planned the whole month ahead...so that is my challenge for March. Then at the begining of the month do a trip to the butchers and all the various supermarkets and then understand and most importantly (what i didnt do this month) set a budget for the weekly top up shops. I also need to try to refrain from letting the bf have too much input into the shopping as this is when the budget gets stretched and wasted on silly things!

Hope all are well in MFW land, I'm so glad the weekend is nearly here and especially as we have had this big yellow thing in the sky for the last few days...not sure what it is as its been so long since I saw it!!:rotfl::rotfl:

    Hi all,

Well not much to report here, weekend was good, a little less spendier than planned which is always good!!!

Looking forward to pay day in 10 days!

Big news here is i am going to change my car, the deal I am going to go on to will work at £100 per year more expensive but that gives me a bigger and better car...the monthly payments are higher but fuel and road tax lower. I need to sell my car privately as the part ex value is too low for my liking!! However I will have to clear £7k settlement before selling if and then banking the buyers money....for a while my savings balance will look a little :eek:

Also I have lent £400 to my bf's sister, I have said she can pay me back at the end of the year (she is a mature student nurse atm and at the end of the year she will qualify and start working) I know the general consensus is not to lend money to friends and family but they are really strapped at the moment, i trust her even if me and the bf were to split up and most importantly...I only ever lend money I can afford to lose.

It means the signature will take a bit of a hit now...but will be put back in at some point.

We are over the shopping budget, most of the food we have in will do us too the end of the month but a bit disappointed we couldn't even manage the shortest month of the year to stay on budget. March will hopefully be the month to achieve the budget.

Not much else to report really...will be glad to get the car sitation sorted and have the bank balance more settled!!
