  • Will see if aldi do any sort of equivalent this weekend!

Right it is payday here :beer::beer::j:j:j

Only a few ££££'s added to my savings this month. Instead I have kept £200 back for xmas week, this is to include 2 meals out, 2 takeaway nights and the food shopping for the xmas day breakfast (which we will host) and then food to take to the evening buffet. Hopefully any savings I can make on all this shopping means I can then either put the money into my savings or use if for any unexpected days / nights out over the festive period. :rudolf::xmassmile

I have also kept £150 back for the bf's xmas 'gift' I am not going to get him much (maybe a few token bits to open whilst I am shopping the next few weeks) but will allocate this money for him to go clothes shopping with after xmas as he desperately needs some new clothes. There's me being all smug about finishing my shopping already and forgetting to mention the plan with the bf!

The other £150 spare money has gone over to the credit card to pay for the new tyre I had to have last week :mad: yes I am still mad!!

So in total around £15 over to the savings account and the £6.95 refund came as well so that has gone in. Signature update coming soon.

Need to get back to drawing my cash out weekly and totting up what is left in my purse....too much lately have I been using my debit card and then trying to balance my account with balance and available balance!!

Hope all are well, looking forward to decorating the hall this weekend and getting it all sorted!

  • £12.12 sat in 'payable' in TCB and £10.10 in confirmed. Going to wait for that to move to payable and then will draw that for the savings account.

Just found my paint cheaper in h0mebase than in 8&Q by about £6 so will be getting it from there instead.

Now on to meal planning for next week and the food shopping list. Got my voucher in the paper yeseterday for £5 off a £35 shop in aldi so need to ensure I get to £35!

Morning all...why oh why do the weekends go sooo quickly?!
Update on savings - £69 interest paid (woohooo ... this is about half months worth so looking forward to the first full month of interest :D:D).
I have received a double refund so have moved that into savings account aswell...obviously if they realise and ask for it back I will give it back, but not going to highlight it!!.

New savings total 60,451.15 - will update signature shortly.

Good weekend all in all, decorated the hall on Friday night when I got home, couldn't wait for Saturday and then odds and s0ds the rest of the weekend. Don't feel 100% so treated myself to an afternoon on the sofa yesterday. However this does mean I didn't put the xmas tree up, out tonight and possibly Wednesday, got to do uni work Tuesday night so I think the soonest opportunity to put it up will be Thursday / Friday.

Diet didnt go to well this weekend, by the time we stopped decorating on friday night I couldnt be bothered to cook so the bf treated me to a kfc delicious but :eek: on the points!! And the rest of the weekend I have felt a bit rough and have picked and picked.

hope all are well in mfw land ..... not long till xmas :j:j:j

    £60k?! Woohoo - nice :D

As one of 5 with a growing collection of nieces and nephews, I'll be lucky to get £6!

Unless you're spending the money/using it for a deposit in the near future, be sure to tuck as much away as you can into accounts where you won't be taxed. Your instant access account is only 2.52% after tax, so be sure and use future ISA allowances to minimise your tax bill. You can also hold up to £30k in Premium Bonds without being taxed, although the returns aren't very good.

Is your burn healing up well?

i am planning on using it in about 2-3 years. I currently have my alloted amount in an Isa and the current rate is the best i could find. To be honest I dont know anything about Premium Bonds...would you be able to explain them to me or a good link that explains them??

The burn is healing well, thank you for asking :)

Premium Bonds, they kinda suck, but you might win a million...

Remember you get a rising ISA allowance each financial year.

Thanks Ed, yep next year's ISA is on my plan...wish I could open one for the previous years where I didnt have one and use that allowance!

Not sure about the premium bonds...not a gambler by nature...I like knowing with an interest rate exactly what it is going to produce for me (even if it isnt much!). I need to investigate more me thinks!!

Will be setting up a First Direct regular saver in Jan. Also noticed that the current account i use for my bills (santander 123) pays 3% on balances up to 20k or 30k. Will check that out when my current savings rate is coming to an end as well....if I cant get a savings rate as good as that it might just be worth me leaving the allowance in there and putting the rest in another savings account.

Morning all, bit quiet from me for a few days, have had a really busy few days at work...how rude of them making me work :rotfl::rotfl:

Not too much to report apart from me and the bf are still ill :(, colds and coughs are not shifting and it is costing me a fortune in tissues, cough medicene and decongestant.

the Xmas tree is going up tonight with the help of my niece who is staying overnight.

Busy weekend planned and looking forward to xmas getting nearer and nearer. Need to have a good food shop this weekend and stock up a little bit...out next weekend so that won't leave too much money for food shopping, if I have some meat and basics in then hopefully I can stretch the money a bit further...which will equal another few glasses of wine!!!:D:D
